Description

Senior Software Engineer - UI/Front End

Pearson US Learning Servicesprovides educational content to grades K-12 in North America. Our leading Learning Management System (LMS), calledRealize, is home to more than 850 programs across all Subject areas and grade levels in the Education field.

We are seeking a Senior Front End Software Engineer to help build the next generation learning platform for K-12 learning services teams. We are seeking self-motivated and skilled engineers interested in getting hands-on with the latest, modern front end technology stack. This is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest engineers.

As a Senior UI or Front Engineer what you will be doing here:

* Ability to comprehend business requirements and be able to map them to technical data requirements.


* Ability to lead a small team (globally distributed) of 2-4 individuals with passion, ownership and help drive sound engineering design, process, and quality practices, and perform acceptance engineering


* Work with the UX and Architecture teams to make key UI design decisions while also considering best practices such as Test Driven Development(TDD), Continuous Integration and Code Automation.


* Perform research, analysis, design, and implementation and provide effective solutions for short term and long term needs


* Evaluate new technologies and software products to determine the feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities into the platform.


* Contributes as a hands-on software developer,seek, give, and receive critical feedback in a constructive manner, including but not limited to code review.



Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

* Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, with strong fundamentals and problem-solving skills.


* 6 years of experience in architecture, design, analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of highly scalable web platform services and components, both server-side and UI


* Expert experience with HTML5, CSS3 Layout, Ajax, handling cross-browser issues.


* At least 4 years of AnguarlJS hands-on experience is MUST.


* 2 years of experience working with Node.js and familiarity with Express.js or another web framework


* Working knowledge of GraphQL, web pack, ES6 is plus.


* Strong background in Object Oriented Programming / Analysis and Design concepts, Design Patterns, and Software Development Life Cycle


* Experience in a continuous integration process, employing a CI server, automated unit testing and deployment


* Strong background in unit testing frameworks such asJasmine, Karma, Grunt, andIntegration testing (Rest, Protractor).


* Experience working with Agile/Scrum and TDD is highly desirable



Preferred qualifications

* Strong leader capable of motivating and energizing the software engineers, as well as gaining their respect.


* Experience in Content Management Systems desirable.


* Dynamic and strong in communication & analytical skills and possesses an open and flexible attitude


* Ability to work with onshore and offshore teams.
