Senior Network Engineer

USA - Manassas / USA - Woodbine

YOUR ROLE

The Senior Network Engineer, IT Service Delivery is directly responsible for the design, analysis and implementation of IT solutions within SES, and affiliated companies, as well as for IT project support within the organization and customer related projects. He/She will execute projects in the networking field, with regard to timely task and project implementation. He/She will furthermore coach and supervise other network engineers within the team, and provide guidance based on expertise and skills due to seniority level.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

* Design, implement, maintain and enhance the global SES IT Infrastructure using industry best practices / innovation as well as SES IT defined architecture standards and guidelines;
* Networking (LAN / WAN / DNS / Wireless / Datacenter with strong focus on Cisco)
* IP voice and video
* Performance management and monitoring tools
* Other relevant networking devices and systems


* Design and enhance back end user authentication systems (RADIUS, TACACS, LDAP);
* Understand all stakeholders in the service delivery process;
* Act as the interface between the executing party (IT) and the internal and/or external customers;
* Maturity improvement and adherence of/to all IT service management processes, including change management;
* Devise and maintain standards and standard operating procedures;
* Design, implement and operate IT based network systems based on current technologies;
* Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art networking concepts and technologies;
* Proactively recommend solutions /modifications of the existing environment in order to secure SES operational assets, in particular the satellite operations environment;
* Provide inputs to department heads for administrative and management tasks;
* Provide support to internal and external customers for clarification of technical matters and the resolution of technical issues;
* Provide general engineering support to other sections in the operational, engineering sales and business development area;
* Provide effective third level support;
* Responsible for the creation of the budget inputs for annual budgets;
* Liaise with equipment suppliers and recommend cost effective solutions and ongoing maintenance arrangements;
* Provide other engineering or project management tasks as assigned;
* Actively participate in Problem tickets when required;
* Work actively with the incident management tool;
* Creation of Incident Reports for major incidents;
* Work actively with the Operations Team to help create troubleshooting procedures for common issues;
* Help create knowledge base articles for common issues and for user self-help portal;
* Be willing to learn new technologies;
* Effectively hand off completed projects to the SES IT Operations team and train them on the new systems if required;
* Strong focus on simplification and standardization;

YOUR PROFILE

* Sound technical understanding of the IT landscape and related technical design skills
* Ability to integrate into and lead cross-functional and/or virtual project teams
* Ability to handle simultaneously multiple projects and leads
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to frame complex problems or business issues and can elaborate and articulate alternative solutions
* Innovative spirit and business acumen
* Proactive approach towards potential and/or current customers
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Ability to set priorities autonomously and to proactively deliver results, even under tight deadlines
* Ability to overcome resistance to change
* Strong Project Management / Negotiation skills
* Developed Interpersonal skills - Teamwork / Relationship management / Problem solving
* Master or Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar
* Minimum eight years of applicable professional experience in a large heterogeneous environment
* Vendor certifications (Cisco) preferred
* Good communication skills and team-spirit
* Sound & proven experience with voice over IP and WiFi
* Fluency in English, any other language is considered as an asset
* Willingness to travel internationally
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
