Role Summary:The Embedded Software Design Team Lead will lead a team of engineers for the T901 Turboshaft Engine program. The role includes leadership, coordination, communication around the design, verification, testing and qualification of embedded software used for military jet engine controls.
This position requires a self-driven individual ready to tackle the daily challenges associated with a NPI program and deliver to meet customer commitments.
Essential Responsibilities:
Additionally, as the Embedded Software Design Team Lead, Key responsibilities will include:
Lead and direct a team of embedded software design engineers locally and remote including purchase service
Lead planning and tracking to support metrics-based continuous improvement
Provide timely communication to leadership on significant issues or developments
Interact closely with customers to analyze, clarify, and correct requirements, driving to complete customer satisfaction
Work closely with other engineering teams, partners, and vendors to ensure inter-operability
Drive performance and reliability improvements
Develop and maintain software requirements and designs for components, systems, and communication networks
Design, implement, and test real-time embedded software, ensuring requirements and quality specifications are met
Participate actively in design and code reviews
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project and mentoring to less experienced engineers
Document technical data generated for assigned projects / tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Engineering position

This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Ability to obtain a Secret Government Clearance

Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
Experience in leading engineering teams in developing real time software for embedded systems
Strong oral and written communication skills and organization skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Established project management skills
Experience with requirements documentation and analysis
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
Firm understanding of the software development process with focus on CMMI and Model Based Development
Experience in design, implementation, test and certification of real-time embedded software
Experience with military software qualification
Familiarity with DO-178 and commercial software certification standards for embedded software
Knowledge of aircraft controls and digital electronic control systems
Working knowledge of C, assembly, and Perl languages
Familiarity using the following tools: DOORs, SCADE, IBM Change / Synergy
