Job Description

The Pfizer Digital Architecture team will lead the strategic efforts in creating an enterprise architecture and master plan that ties together our experiences, data, workflows, capabilities, applications, integration and back end services in a cohesive and integrated way that strengthens the Pfizer brand, drives speed and innovation and makes it easy for our customers, colleagues and partners to interact. The team will lead the efforts to architect scalable, modern experiences, platforms and solutions, using next generation enterprise architecture practices and emerging technology. To achieve this, we are assembling a strong digital team, comprised of internal and external talent with proven digital, technology and analytics capabilities and experience.

The architecture team partners with the business and key leaders within Pfizer Digital to provide overall technical direction, guidance, and definition for solution architecture that most effectively support the global business strategy. The Pfizer Digital Architecture team provides a catalog of consultative services that link together the customer experience and product management layer with our applications, analytics, data and process workflows, and enterprise platforms across Pfizer. The Senior Director, Commercial, GPD, WRD Core Solutions, and RREMS Architecture leads an organization responsible for planning and delivery oversight on multiple cross functional and enterprise-wide strategies for both the WRD, GPD & Commercial Core Solutions Center and the Regulatory,

Risk Management, Enterprise Solutions, Medical & Safety Solution Center of Pfizer Digital. Responsibilities include researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solution architectures that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies supporting the following business functions of Pfizer:

* Scientific Research & Discovery
* Drug Development
* Medical Affairs & Regulatory
* Commercial (Marketing & Brand Management, Sales, and Managed Markets)

This includes supporting the presentation of digital & technology proposals and plans to business leadership. Responsibilities fall into 4 key areas:

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide a single interface and leads architecture planning efforts for all Architecture demand originating from theGlobal Product Development, Worldwide Research, Development & Medical, Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group, and Upjohn business functions and participate as a member of the Commercial, GPD & WRD and RREMS Leadership Teams of Pfizer Digital (née Business Technology). Solutions cover core business functions supporting Biopharmaceutical Discovery, Development, Approval/Launch and Market, as well as in-market safety, medical and regulatory.

The leader of this organization is responsible for developing an organization and architecture services operating model that fall into the following key areas:

Engaging Stakeholder and Delivery Organizations

* Assemble teams of architects, matrixed personnel, and consultants that work closely with new demand customers to ensure applications, data and technologies are developed and maintained within the context of the overall enterprise architecture and standards.
* Accountable for building consensus on approach and providing high level technical execution oversight on delivery of solutions. Identify and mediate conflicting requirements. Arbitrates disagreements among solution stakeholders and makes decisions/proposals as needed.
* Proven technology management leadership skills. Demonstrated leadership skills, strong written and verbal skills, and ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organization.
* Contributes significantly to roadmap definition in partnership with Solution Delivery Centers, the Program Management Office, and the Client Partners, Portfolio, Product & Demand Management organization.
* Will facilitate exploration of difficult problems (trouble shooting) as well as produce design of new systems/configurations.

Planning & Oversight

* Thought leadership in the appropriate platforms and technology to support areas of Biopharmaceutical Discovery, Development, Approval/Launch and Market, as well as in-market safety, medical and regulatory.
* Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) for the Pfizer business functions described above and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the targeted business outcomes.
* Interfaces across several business areas and digital solution areas, acting as visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction & feasibility for future projects.
* Accountable for the formulation of solution implementation approach, building consensus on approach, and providing technical execution oversight of such solutions.
* Accountable for designing complex systems at the component level, makes strategic technology choices, or directly supervises the work of subordinates who are doing so.
* Define the security, integration and system architecture of business technology systems (both old and new) for high performance, high availability, high security, and high-volume processing.
* Help solution delivery center leadership frame application renewal or retirement initiatives, from current state assessments through technical oversight alongside the program team for delivery.
* Conduct architecture reviews and assessments.

Governance & Process Excellence

* Define a catalog of consultative services offered by the Architecture as well as develop templates, practices and procedures for the delivery of the services.
* Build, maintain and govern the execution of the enterprise blueprints, principles, and technology standards.
* Provides leadership in the definition of digital business APIs (application programming interfaces) and connectivity that enables Pfizer to integrate into the broader global healthcare ecosystem, enabling greater value exchange with partners & customers and the digitization/automation of end to end value streams & processes.
* Lead and provide oversight on application and technology lifecycles, from emerging technology assessments through to renewal or retirement.
* Facilitate and support the Architecture Strategy & Program Review Board.

Talent Acquisition, Management and Skills Development

* Demonstrated ability to cultivate technical expertise in teams covering Biopharmaceutical Discovery, Development, Approval/Launch and Market, as well as in-market safety, medical and regulatory.
* Will demonstrate a high degree of creativity and latitude in motivation, enablement and engagement of highly skilled employees. Leads with vision and purpose.
* Accountable for building a team capable of designing complex systems at the component level and making strategic technology choices or proposals to management.
* Coaches, mentors, and delegates to architects and other matrixed colleagues to deliver work products appropriate for these responsibilities and to facilitate their development.
* Solicits, evaluates and recommends vendor/contractor proposals and manages delivery to augment internal expertise and/or capacity in the delivery of these accountabilities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience required
* Minimum 10 years of IT work experience in software engineering, design, and/or architecture within the Pharmaceutical industry.
* Proven extensive architecture planning, management and governance experience are a must.

* Location: prefer any location with Pfizer Digital engineering, remote w/ frequent travel may be considered.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
