Drones, autonomous cars and trucks, heavy machines, even flying cars. To operate safely, these machines need sensors that work flawlessly across all environmental conditions. Echodyne has applied the physics of metamaterials to create a new category of sensor that provides the critical high-resolution, ground-truth data autonomous machines and vehicles need to operate safely at any time and in any weather. Core to these solutions are embedded digital systems utilizing real-time controls, network/chip-to-chip high speed interfaces, and digital signal processing engines.
The successful candidate will demonstrate senior level experience in and detailed decomposition and design of embedded digital systems for FPGA, especially timing and control and high-rate signal processing. Candidates must also have knowledge of MATLAB for DSP using the related tool boxes, and expertise creating building bit-accurate models. Exceptional candidates will present a deep understanding of algorithms and techniques from Detection & Estimation Theory, Random Processes Analysis. Experience owning the above in the areas of radar or ultrasound is highly desirable.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
* Perform system engineering tasks associated with analysis, design, and development of requirements and architectures for DSP algorithms, Real Time Controls, and Network Interfaces targeting FPGAs/ASICs. * Use Model Based System Engineering practices to develop MatLab / Simulink models virtualizing system performance and serve as system verification and validation test cases. * Work alongside FPGA engineers as models are implemented and directly participate in lab and benchtop testing, troubleshooting, and verification. * Conduct scoping and trade studies of architecture, subsystem, and component choices reflecting Hardware / Firmware / and Software. * Collaborate with team members across engineering disciplines including FPGA/ASIC, embedded software, digital electronics, and RF hardware. * Mentor implementation teams on latest technologies, practices, methodologies, etc. for DSP algorithms. * Hands-on system performance verification and validation.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Strong background in signal processing theory and algorithm development using MatLab and/or Simulink implemented in shipped product. * Practical experience creating signal processing solutions for embedded platforms, fixed and floating point. * Understanding of latest high-speed chip-to-chip and network interface technologies. * Ability to advise Executive Leadership, Radar Algorithm / Sciences, and Design Engineers on architectures, constraints, and feasibilities of product realization for a cost effective; low size, weight, and power (SWaP) system. * Competent C/C++/C#/Python programming and software engineering skills.
DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
* Digital design using FPGAs/ASICs with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, etc. * Network / Chip-to-Chip High Speed interface definition, implementation, and verification. * RF signal processing techniques used to feed machine learning.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or pertinent specialization plus a minimum of 10 years related digital design work experience; or a Master's degree plus 8 years of related digital design work experience.
