We are moving our entire Qualys Cloud Platform solutions to run on Docker containers with orchestration using Kubernetes. This will be rolled out globally across our seven Shared Cloud Platforms supporting over 10,000 customers, and to over seventy on-premise Private Cloud Platform setups. As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Qualys, you will be an integral member of the DevOps team whose responsibility includes prototyping, designing, developing and supporting a highly scalable container orchestration solution based on Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

* Ensure the container orchestration platform (Docker/Kubernetes) based on open source technologies is regularly maintained and released to production without any downtime
* Increase the effectiveness, reliability and performance of container orchestration platform (Docker/Kubernetes) by identifying and measuring key indicators, making changes to the production systems in an automated way and evaluating the results
* Ensure that the container orchestration platform (Docker/Kubernetes) is maintained properly by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, performance and system health.
* Assist development teams to migrate applications to Docker based PaaS platform
* Design and implement required failover mechanisms within the Docker/Kubernetes ecosystems
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Docker and Kubernetes environment
* Develop and maintain automated processes, tools, and documentation in support of Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration platform
* Ensure uptime SLA for our SaaS infrastructure, services and applications as part of the global DevOps team
* Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly uptime and status reports for production and critical internal infrastructure

Requirements

* 6+ years of experience in the field of data centre infrastructure management (UNIX/Docker/ Kubernetes/ Microservices)
* Must have proven prior experience in managing a large K8S cluster and scaling it significantly at enterprise scale
* Must be well versed in generic administration tasks of managing Docker images, container networking and standard infrastructure maintenance tasks on Docker and Kubernetes platform
* Must have knowledge of Linux kernel options such as control groups and defining application groups to restrict resources
* Good Linux system administrator skills and TCP/IP network fundamentals
* Strong programming background in Java, Groovy, Python or Golang
* Strong analytical and debugging skills
* BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Math or related field

Bonus Points if you have:

* Built and managed a container orchestration platform from the ground up
* Experience with managing Docker Swarm
* Expertise in building automation tools in any of the programming language such as Java, Groovy, Python or Golang
* Experience with monitoring tools such as Graphite, Grafana and Prometheus
* Experience with Hashicorp technologies such as Consul, Vault, Terraform and Vagrant
* Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
* In-depth experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
* Exposure to Maven, Ant or Gradle for builds
