The Role

Senior DevOps Engineer (Cloud/Email/Go/Python) - Safe Messaging Cloud

The Cloudmark products at Proofpoint protect the messaging infrastructure of more than 120 tier-one service providers worldwide, including Verizon, Comcast, Cox, Swisscom, and NTT. We are expanding our product line to prevent other malicious online activities and to make messaging safe.

The Safe Messaging Cloud (SMC) platform provides a carrier-grade, cloud-based messaging security solution for ISP's, hosting companies and mobile network operators across the globe. The platform pairs advanced data analytics and automated threat monitoring to deliver responsive real-time anti-abuse protection for these high-volume messaging environments.

The team members supporting the SMC have extensive experience in Linux system administration, software development and hands on experience with many of the common modern-day technologies and languages (Docker, Go, Python, Jenkins, Artifactory, AWS, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).

Your day-to-day

* Develop software for internal and external use using approved languages (Go, Python) and pair them with recent cloud technologies (serverless infrastructure, auto-scaling groups.)
* Contribute to the design and functionality of our ever-evolving Cloud platform.
* Provide input on architecture and design options, operational concepts, and application acceptance test plans.
* Review and diagnose system and application issues.
* Assist in maintaining and updating production environments.
* Work with multiple teams as well as external customers to identify opportunities to improve the business, architecture and processes.

We are looking for a driven engineer passionate about growing a new product and has skills that span multiple disciplines from years of hands on experience. We are looking to fill positions in San Francisco, CA. Our San Francisco offices are easily accessible from Muni and Caltrain, and a 20 minutes' walk from Bart.

What you bring to the team

* Heavy exposure to Python, Go or similar languages
* 3+ years' experience with systems architectures
* 2+ years' experience with Cloud technologies and providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
* 2+ years' experience with distributed systems
* Strong knowledge of Email infrastructure
* Strong abilities in software development
* Significant Linux system administration experience
* Comprehensive ability to diagnose and remediate complex issues
* Experience with various technologies - Docker, Serverless applications, Puppet, Ansible, git, svn, Jenkins, Sensu
* Exposure to network infrastructure: security, routing, network management and performance management.
* Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external resources.
* Naturally curious person who is able to work with minimal guidance while collaborating across multiple departments within the company
* Comfortable conveying research via written reports and in person presentations.
* Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work independently yet fully integrate with worldwide, remote teams
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Science, Math or equivalent work experience
