Sr. Designer - Visualization

Location: NYC

Summary

Xaxis uses advanced artificial intelligence to programmatically buy media inventory that delivers better outcomes for advertisers. Copilot is a Xaxis-built, AI-powered optimization platform that enables us to deliver more relevant outcomes for our clients.

We are seeking a talented designer to work with engineers and data scientists to create interactive visualizations that unpack the algorithmic "black box", to explain how Copilot makes decisions, and to give insights into effectiveness for our traders and clients. This is an opportunity to lead in the field of data and computational visualization, making complex data and AI decisions accessible and actionable.

Responsibilities

* Create state-of-the-art visualizations to explain our data and algorithms.
* Develop compelling visuals to effectively communicate narrative insights from time-series data.
* Work with engineers and data scientists to rapidly prototype and iterate designs against real data.
* Sketch, code, use visualization apps, or whatever else is effective at turning ideas into production code that ships.
* Conduct research to understand users need for information and how they take action from it.

Requirements

* 5+ years of experience as a UX, interaction designer or a similar role
* 3+ years of experience with data visualization design in a highly quantitative environment with big data
* Experience with front-end programming (e.g.: Javascript, React, D3)
* Strong portfolio URL demonstrating visual and interaction design
* Proficient-to-expert knowledge of tools like: Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

Preferred

* Exposure to machine learning
* 2+ years of experience in ad tech
* Knowledge of modern, web-based visualization libraries
* Experience with visualization or BI software (Tableau, etc.)
