Job Description

The Role:

Morning Consult is looking for an experienced Senior Designer to create compelling creative materials for Morning Consult's wide range of marketing and editorial content. Designers will work with marketing, content and editorial teams to translate marketing initiatives, complex data, and written content into beautiful, exciting visual experiences. Deliverables will range from dynamic data visualizations and digital interactive microsites to compelling illustrations, news visuals, animations, video content, digital advertisements, company branding and more.

Ideal candidates will be able to successfully manage multiple projects while remaining flexible through revisions and iterations in a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial environment. Designers should be comfortable defending their creative decisions, while also taking feedback and direction from leadership well to maintain and elevate the company brand. Designers will have significant opportunities to help improve the creative process and contribute to Morning Consult's overall growth. This is primarily an active Senior Design role with high-end creative output expectations (there will be some expectation to assist CD in the management and professional development of more junior/associate designers). This role can grow into a more hands-on creative management track for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist CD with overseeing all design projects, from conception to delivery
* Designing original pieces, including illustrations, data visualizations, and interactive backed by sound marketing and UX/UI principles
* Review/mentor junior designers' work to ensure high quality and brand standards compliance
* Work closely with Morning Consult marketing and content teams to draft and design creative for a wide range of marketing collateral for marketing and editorial initiatives.
* Work with CD to develop creative strategies and coordinate with internal teams to prioritize projects, solicit feedback, and ensure deadlines are met
* Possess strong attention to detail and a solid foundation in visual/digital design principles and layout.
* Maintain technical knowledge of best practices related to typography, color illustration, photography, digital design, advanced web UI/UX and print output
* Be eager to learn and grow as a designer and creative manager; continuously improve through feedback
* Assist CD in maintaining file structures, naming conventions, organization, and hierarchy of creative files
* Mentor junior/associate creatives and grow their creative development and technical skills
* Occasionally articulate and professionally present creative concepts to company leadership and executives

Desired Skills:

* Portfolio demonstrating outstanding design aesthetic & experience
* Proven work experience as a Senior Designer, Graphic Designer or similar role
* Expert competency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and related design software and applications
* Excellent ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects independently while paying strict attention to detail and scope
* Strong understanding of news and current events
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Professional experience with video (shooting and/or editing), interactive (front-end code/design), photography, motion graphics/After Effects, custom illustration and conceptual editorial-style creative
* Visualizing complex quantitative data
* Familiarity with Microsoft Powerpoint, Dropbox and Google Drive
* Proactive professional development to expand technical & creative aptitudes and seek knowledge & skills outside of traditional creative output
* Be cognizant and advocate for best practices for file security, consistent brand representation, and digital file output
* 4-8 years of relevant experience
* BFA/BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
