Amazon is looking for a Senior Design Technologist to join a small team that motivates investment in future retail opportunities 3 to 5 years out through design, invention, and prototyping. Design Technologists at Amazon combine UX Design and engineering expertise into a single discipline.
As Sr. Design Technologist, you will work with product management, research, and design to help define and prototype front-end customer experiences and new technical approaches that may include back-end services, working with data, or emerging technologies. This position requires the ability to dive deep, invent, and be relentlessly curious about customer needs and how we can bring potential solutions to life. You will validate customer experience concepts at a variety of fidelities, including working samples and reference code, throughout the design process. You are well-versed in a mix of development and prototyping platforms and tools, and will select the best and most appropriate platform for the task. You are highly motivated to explore new opportunities the team uncovers. You may be a maker or hacker who loves the process of exploring, collaborating, and learning as much as the final product.
* Actively participate in concept development and design iteration as part of a cross-functional team. * Rapidly build and iterate on appropriate-fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task. * Develop functional prototypes to inform investment decisions made by development teams and senior leadership. * Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers. * Lead large, wide-impact Design Technology projects. Examples could include a new service, tool or feature that crosses disparate areas of customer experience. * Lead others and set direction, and scope work accurately in the face of ambiguity. * Participate in annual planning and end-to-end design process. * Evaluate and document any new creative and/or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your work. * Effectively present and explain your prototypes and designs to stakeholders and leadership.
