Responsibilities
Role Purpose
The Senior Data Warehouse Analyst will provide valuable analysis and insight to all activities relating to the continued support and ongoing expansion of the data warehouse for the NBCUniversal Brand Development (UBD) organization. This individual will be a key member of the BI and Data Strategy team focusing on the following areas of responsibility: Data Analysis, Functional Data Requirements, and Data Model Design review and approval. The Senior Data Warehouse Analyst will work with both internal and external technical resources, as well as our business partners, to develop and deliver solutions for everything from production bugs and minor enhancements to major business projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Work with the ETL development lead and data architecture support team to implement new structures or modify existing ones, providing meaningful input to data modeling discussions as well as ETL functional design and development.
* Evaluate all new incoming data sources, profiling for data type and content, and ensuring that feeds meet established standards for format and transmission protocols.
* Participate in designing, testing, and implementing system changes specifically related to these new and modified data structures, working with both onshore and offshore technical teams
* Understand business processes and source application data used to support the reporting and analytics for various departments within Universal Brand Development
* Design responsibilities include creating detailed documentation of data models and ETL logic, and general oversight of the development process
* Work with our ETL development team lead to recognize and implement opportunities for automation, performance improvements, scheduling improvements, etc.
* Work closely with other application support teams to evaluate the impact of any changes that might affect existing data warehouse feeds, whether due to scheduling/timing or frequency of delivery, unexpected change in record counts, or structural changes to the incoming data.
* Monitor ongoing development efforts and provide regular progress reporting of current activities to IT and business teams
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience with data warehousing, business intelligence, SDLC for a medium to large scale BI implementation
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer-related degree
Strong BI/DW technical analysis skills, including ability to read and interpret data models and entity relationship diagrams, as well as to read, write, and analyze complex SQL statements and their output
Must have a minimum 3 years of recent hands-on experience with Teradata and Oracle database platforms and tools to analyze them (SQL Assistant, SQLDeveloper, etc.)
Proven experience authoring functional requirements, as well as providing oversight, review, and final approval of technical specifications for database and ETL objects.
Solid knowledge of data modeling concepts such as referential integrity, application-enforced integrity, data dependencies between source applications
Ability to organize and lead design sessions for all phases of database development, including data source review, data modeling, ETL design and logic
Experience with Microsoft data analysis tools such as Excel and Access
Eligibility Requirements
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Must be 18 years or older
Desired Characteristics
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Retail Point-of-Sale Analysis, Contracts and/or Rights Management, Creative Product Development and Approval Systems, Finance/Accounting (SAP preferred)
Prior experience working with centralized infrastructure teams for data architecture and database platform support
Good understanding of BI tools, MicroStrategy a plus
Working knowledge of the Informatica toolset for ETL development
Experience leveraging offshore development resources
