About this role

Every day, Strava collects massive amounts of information from athletes all over the world. Both our core business strategies and product vision are fueled by this data. We are looking for a data infrastructure engineer to help us unlock the potential of our dataset and scale our analytics capabilities. You will be responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure to enable the next generation of features and analysis.

Responsibilities

* Design, build, and launch systems for storing, aggregating and analyzing large amounts of data
* Improve and maintain ETL infrastructure and tools to keep pace with the growth of our data and its consumers
* Work with platform, web, and mobile engineering teams to ensure that data is available for reporting and analysis
* Uncover insights about our global community of athletes, both for internal and external consumption

Requirements

* B.S. in computer science, statistics, mathematics or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining software
* Experience building production-quality systems to work with large amounts of data
* Excellent programming skills in at least one language such as Scala, Python, Ruby, or Go
* Advanced SQL skills
* Experience with relational data stores such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and ideally one or more NoSQL data stores (e.g. Redis, Cassandra)
* Experience with cloud-based services such as Amazon AWS

Desired

* Experience with open source technologies like Kafka, Storm, Spark, Elasticsearch, Mesos, and Docker
* Experience with ETL technologies such as Luigi, Airflow, or Azkaban
