Data Engineer

We are looking for intellectually curious and driven individuals to join our team of talented data engineers and create cutting-edge Big Data solutions for Capital One's Cloud and on-premises data platforms.

On any given day you will:

* Develop Big Data applications using technologies such as Python, Spark, Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API), Hive, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Postgres


* Develop solutions to enable auditing and data usage monitoring in our Cloud platforms.


* Work directly with Product Owners and end-users to develop solutions in a highly collaborative and agile environment.


* Help grow and mentor team members on the fine art of data engineering and software abstractions


* Passion for learning, growing, and mentoring in a team environment

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or Military experience


* At least 3 years of experience developing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs, tables, and models in a Data Warehouse or Big Data environment


* At least 3 years working with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)



Preferred Qualifications

* Master's Degree


* At least 5 years of experience with Python or Spark


* 5+ years of experience delivering analytical data warehouse solutions or fit for purpose data stores


* 5+ years of experience working with Spark, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Structured Query Language (SQL), database design, and database modeling


* 2 + years of experience working with DevOps or Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CICD)
