About the role:

The Senior Data Analyst/Engineer will work directly with AV engineers and leadership to extract key insights from our massive road and simulation data and provide actionable recommendations. You will take the lead on analyzing enormous data sets, defining metrics, designing decision trees, and synthesizing information across multiple datasets by utilizing appropriate scripting languages and statistical methods. You will be responsible for the design, development, and publication of automated reports including the accuracy of the underlying data. You will be innovative in your work alongside talented and fun colleagues in a strong and engaging Cruise community.The ideal candidate for this role is fluent in data manipulation & statistics, comfortable with providing technical and product recommendations, working cross-functionally to support ideas from inception to launch, and capable of presenting and being a thought partner to senior leaders and managers.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

* Systematically validate assumptions and quickly identify appropriate solution methods for an analysis problem
* Utilize Looker, Python, Tableau, Google Cloud, and SQL to pull data and provide analytical insights
* Define, report, and monitor key performance indicators, and lead deep dives into variations of KPIs from normal behavior
* Help product team set up tests and perform statistical analysis on results to provide actionable insights
* Build statistical models to predict interactions and segment users based on behavior
* Provide ad-hoc analytics support as needed, ranging from helping teams develop the question through tracking and implementation to analytics and insights
* Collaborate with analytics team on building shareable data tools, maintain documentation, and participate in deep-dives to understand drivers of success
* Train engineers and cross functional stakeholders on how to most effectively use the data tools at Cruise to improve their workflow
* Own a significant portion of their team's analysis software and tools, reliably maintaining a production system, such as a dashboard, a data pipeline, or real-time decisioning system

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

* 2-3 years post-academic experience in analytics, consumer-facing product experience preferred
* Ability to think creatively and provide thoughtful, agile insights
* Experience developing, maintaining, automating, visualizing, analyzing, and communicating reporting to management
* Experienced statistician with a track record of setting up and optimizing metrics tracking systems and A/B testing methodologies
* Fluency in SQL and R/Python
* Experience with at least two of the following: Looker, Amplitude, Google Analytics, API integration, PHP, HTML/CSS/JavaScript
* Creative, scrappy, and enthusiastic about seeking new solutions to problems and opportunities
* A passion for correctness
