What you'll be doing...

As our Security Systems Engineer you will manage and track system vulnerabilities for about 40,000 servers including UNIX (Solaris), Linux, and Windows. You will interface with system administrators, application developers, vendors, and management to prioritize the remediation of security vulnerabilities. Managing large scale remediation projects will be a core part of normal duties. You will support CPI-810, PCI, and SOX audits. You will be the technical interface between Verizon and the 3rd party auditors. You will also report out to senior management on the status of audits and vulnerability remediation progress. You will be interacting and communicating with both peers and senior leaders across all of IT to provide project status, risks, jeopardies, etc.

* Prioritize system vulnerabilities for the organization.
* Support internal and external PCI and SOX audits.
* Develop reporting on vulnerability remediation tracking.
* Evaluate tools to automate security and audit processes.
* Develop scanning tools and processes for audit reporting.
* Interact and communicate with both peers and senior leaders across all of IT to provide project status, risks, jeopardies, etc.
* Strategic planning, business feedback, meeting attendance, executive reporting.
* Identify opportunities to better meet the customer's needs, obtain synergies between the teams, and support IT's security initiatives while maintaining high availability and functionality.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

* Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
* Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

* A degree.
* Security certification or related experience (CISSP).
* Unix, Linux, Windows and or Public Cloud Certifications.
* Five or more years of server and operating system management experience.
* Willingness to travel as needed.
