Job Description

Do you want to help make Windows the most secure operating system on the market? Do you want to be part of a vulnerability research team dedicated to securing several Windows components?

The vulnerability research team for Windows is one of the teams responsible for securing the Windows client and server operating systems, used by millions of customers every single day, along with Microsoft devices such as Xbox, HoloLens and Surface. We also secure some Azure components running on top of Windows, in addition to uses of Linux within Microsoft. We perform security design reviews, code reviews, and penetration testing on key Windows features and devices to make sure they meet the highest possible security standards.

In this role, you will be part of a team of talented security engineers performing vulnerability research across Windows, Azure and Linux components. You will be expected to show experience with C/C++ vulnerability research (code audit, writing fuzzers, finding creative ways to break assumptions), a deep understanding of OS security fundamentals, computer science skills, and care deeply about keeping Microsoft customers safe.

Required qualifications:

* B.S. in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

Preferred qualifications:

* Public track record of relevant security research, especially around platform/operating systems vulnerability discovery
* Experience exploiting bugs and bypassing security mitigations in operating systems
* Familiarity with Microsoft Windows internals

* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

* Lead and participate in security reviews to identify and mitigate risk in Windows, Azure and Linux uses within Microsoft. Activities here include design review, code reviews, fuzzing and penetration testing
* Be one of the security consultants for teams building new products and technologies in the next version of Windows
