Would you enjoy working on scalable, reliable platforms that are fundamental to the way Alexa develops its global software both inside and outside of Amazon? The Alexa International Deliverability team is seeking expert developers interested in creating the next generation of developer-centric tools. In this position, you will be part of a team that works across the entire Alexa organization to discover opportunities to improve on the development lifecycle for building and running software.

Come join our Alexa International Deliverability (AID) team that has a mandate to be the authoritative source for all of Alexa international tooling and automation frameworks. With engineering efficiency tools as primary focus, AID team will innovate in preproduction engineering space, design and come up with necessary voice quality infrastructure, engineering tools and voice validation automation frameworks. We will enable our customers to manage their code validation, ensure quality and enable them to build solutions distributed globally. AID will have three primary customers: 1) Alexa International Quality engineers across regions 2) Alexa SDEs and QAEs that need to launch features internationally 3) A thriving community of Alexa 3P skill developers. Our vision includes pushing for zero-touch deployments by moving quality upstream, in any country, for any language and culture there by providing a seamless experience to our customers. We will go beyond deployments and target improving engineer efficiency, so that engineers spend less time writing and running test software and more time writing features that delight customers. Key objectives of this team will be to 1) drive higher levels of automation coverage 2) provide greater transparency in end-to-end engagement between domains, device software teams, i18n teams, 3P skill developers and country teams, 3) moving quality upstream by creating self-service tools, analytics and 4) implementing instrumentation, process standardization and i18n defect reduction.

As a founding member of this team, come help us invent the future. You will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features that help guarantee the software quality across Amazon's suite of Alexa devices for regional markets around the world. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, driving the system architecture, and spearheading best practices to enable a superior product. Our team is responsible for scaling Alexa to new languages and countries. We want everyone in the world to use Alexa. We encourage bold exploration of interactions and experiments that push innovation and use these learnings to bolster the foundation of best practice reference design patterns that foster a consistent, efficient, and familiar cross-product experience.

You will work among the founding members of a new engineering team with opportunities to shape our initial products and lead the charge as we play a major role in the evolution of Alexa. Your time with us will be impactful, and your vision, creativeness and engineering output adopted by teams across Amazon and beyond.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing products, a strong technical ability, ability to interact with multiple stakeholder teams, solid communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and have a creative flair for achieving the impossible.

What you do:

* You are considered a technical leader on your team.
* When given a business problem, you create a technical strategy and deliver with limited guidance.
* You influence your team's software architecture and likely influence related teams architecture too.
* You solve difficult or complex architecture and business problems. Your solutions are extensible. You work to simplify, optimize, and remove bottlenecks.
* You focus on architecture. Your design and code impact dependencies, yields significant performance, availability, and business value.
* You successfully launch software for the business and resolve architectural deficiencies.
* You lead projects to improve engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices on your team.
* You will know your team's architecture in detail and make technical trade-offs between short-term team needs and long-term business needs.

Come help us scale Alexa to the whole world: all countries, all languages, all people!
