Job Description

Position Overview:

The Scrum Master will lead delivery teams supporting internal and external customers using the Agile/Scrum framework. The Scrum Master will utilize communication, technical, and organization skills to remove impediments, enhance collaboration, and ensure teams deliver value to the organization. The role requires a heavy emphasis on applying Agile/Scrum practices to teams of varying degrees of Agile maturity, familiarity with Agile Engineering Practices, and Scrum best practices as well as working across the organization to implement positive change (increased partnership across lines of business, transparency, team performance, etc.).

Position Objectives:

The Scrum Master's chief objective is to ensure that the team produces the highest quality software possible providing tangible value to customers. He or she must be able to coach multiple software delivery teams in an Agile environment. Servant-Leadership, organizational, and motivational strengths are essential. The Scrum Master will work with the Scrum Teams to maximize their potential while promoting self-organization.

Qualifications: Education/Licensing Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
* Certified/ Professional ScrumMaster

Experience Requirements:

* 4+ years of Agile project management experience with proven history of delivering software projects
* 6+ years with software development experience as a lead developer, technical lead, or Scrum Master
* 5+ years' experience managing dependencies and project integration in a cross-functional, matrix environment

Essential Skills/Experience:

* Practical experience scaling Scrum and partnering with other teams to monitor cross team dependencies
* Detailed understanding of software development lifecycle and agile software development practices
* Experience with JIRA tracking systems
* Certified/Professional Scrum Trainer, Product Owner, or Developer, or SAFe Release Train Engineer Certification
* Participates and/or leads Scrum Master Community of Practice or Scrum of Scrum; as well as mentors other Scrum Masters
* Advanced knowledge of multiple Agile delivery frameworks
* Experienced as or moving towards a Release Train Engineer (RTE) role; or demonstrates solid facilitation skills through experiences
* Experienced in Scaled Agile including expertise in running PI Planning and dependency management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Advanced problem analysis and problem-solving skills
* Demonstrable achievement in transitioning a team into Scrum and increasing adoption/maturity over time
* Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic environment
* Ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision
* Strong organization and time management skills
* Healthcare experience a plus

Essential Job Responsibilities:

* Be the steward of the process to ensure the team is working by the values and practices of Scrum
* Coach Signify Health development teams and overall organization in Agile best practices and selection of the appropriate processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
* Continually evaluate Signify Health's success in Agile delivery and not only identify opportunities for improvement, but develop the strategy to implement change across organizational levels
* Organize and facilitate, when necessary, all Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-up meetings, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
* Collaborate with Stakeholders, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Development Managers to plan releases and manage a healthy product backlog
* Recommend and introduce the appropriate metrics in support of continued improvement with the goal of getting the best work out of each team and measuring representing that improvement to the team and leadership
* Collaborate with Technology Leadership to ensure the delivery teams are practicing Agile framework and software engineering best practices
* Report progress, team status, and issues to senior management
* Work with Stakeholders and Product Management to clearly articulate a common goal for the team at the release and sprint levels
* Cultivate a team that recognizes the value of Agile delivery and use that recognition to continuously inspect and adapt for areas of improvement
* Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation
* Aid delivery teams in determining suitable commitments for product backlog items and sprints
* Coordinate the execution of deliverables across multiple Scrum Teams with a focus on scaling Scrum to manage cross team dependencies
* Protect time allocated to developers to explore innovative solutions to business and technical problems
* Help balance the prioritization of technical debt against new feature innovation
* Champion continuous improvements in processes and development techniques applied by the delivery team and the entire technology organization by collaborating with other Scrum Masters, Scrum Teams, and Leadership to influence the overall organization
* Collaborate with Executive and Senior Leadership on applying Agile thinking across the organization

Additional Job Responsibilities:

* Participate in staff meetings, conference calls, and other meetings, as needed
* Complete reports as requested
* Assist/coach/coordinate with other team members
* Attend training sessions to acquire/enhance skills related to programs offered
* Maintain a neat, orderly work area
* Perform other incidental and related duties as required
