ASRC Federal Technical Services (ASTS) is responsible for managing the NASA Goddard Software Engineering Services II (SES II) contract. This includes the following software engineering capabilities: Systems Engineering, Ground Software, Flight Software, Flight System V&V, IT Development, Science System Development and Data Processing. ASTS is looking for a Ruby on Rails Software Developer.

Job Description Ruby on Rails Software Developer

The GLOBE Program is seeking a self-motivated, talented Ruby on Rails Software Developer to work in a Pasadena office with a team working on the latest in mobile and portal technologies. This individual will be a key member of The GLOBE Program and development team in support of NASA and the National Science Foundation (NSF). If you enjoy working on the latest web and mobile technologies and have the drive to create something that will have a global impact, then the GLOBE Program is for you!

Required Qualifications

* BS degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 3 years of software development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience in developing Ruby on Rails Web Applications
* Experience in working with GIT
* Experience with Javascript and JS frameworks such as Angular JS
* Understanding and experience in Rails Application Concepts and Object Oriented Design
* Expert knowledge of databases (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres)
* Familiar with CSS, HTML
* Familiar with Ruby Gems, such as Passenger and Capistrano
* A strong focus on User Interface and proper design
* Ability to pivot and work on multiple tasks at the same time
* Must be detail-oriented with good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Must enjoy working in a team environment and work well with a distributed team

Desired Qualifications

* Familiarity with agile software development life-cycle
* Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the Rails Architecture
* Familiar with Bootstrap and Responsive Web Development
* GLOBE experience
