Description:

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be a member of the New Glenn Program responsible for identifying and managing New Glenn program risks and opportunities at all program levels supporting the program's vision of "millions of people living and working in space". The applicant should have significant experience and knowledge in launch vehicle system including design, development, and operation and be able to use this experience to effectively perform this assignment. The candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills as he/she will be required to work with experts, stakeholders, and program leads in a variety of fields. The job requires you to work at a fast-pace and dynamic environment with risk and opportunities often being quickly retired or realized and new risks and opportunities needing to be identified and managed. In addition to risk management, Technical Performance Measures (TPMs) and associated margin management is also part of this job assignment. You will also be expected to support other New Glenn program activities such as conducting trade studies, developing margin allocations, supporting change management/configuration management activities, participating in gated reviews, performing fault-tree and hazard analysis, writing proposals and test plans, and supporting regulatory compliance. The applicant is expected to be able to complete tasks quickly in a fast pace, dynamic environment. You will be required to work closely with the system architect and other team members with expertise in a broad range of subsystems. The applicant must be able to work with a variety of tools including DOORS Next Gen and other functional analysis toolsets. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

* Lead Risk, TPM, and Margin Management activities:
* Identifying and managing risk and opportunities in accordance with system engineering standards and practices
* Identifying managing system TPMs and margins in accordance with system engineering standards and practices.
* Activities entails performing the following tasks over the life cycle of the program:
* Managing risks and TPMs for flight systems, ground systems, certification and regulatory compliance, system safety and flight safety areas for the development and operation of a best-in-class launch vehicle.
* Ensuring risks and TPMs are reviewed via program standards.
* Capturing new risks via your review of system design and operations as well as risks elevated to the system risk review board
* Running the system risk-review board
* Managing active risks and opportunities through tracking, monitoring, and actively working mitigation and opportunity plans completing assignments in a timely manner.
* Participating in gated reviews
* Performing requirement analysis and traceability as it pertains to risks and TPMs
* Developing risk and margin management strategies and implementation planning at all levels of a program from system to subsystems and major components.
* Key individual contribution capabilities include:
* Understand the launch system and identify missing risks
* Understand how to develop and manage the system margins and their impacts to risk and opportunities with respect to the launch system performance, maintenance, and operability, reuse & refurbishment, and launch rates.
* Independently draft mitigation plans with deliverables tied to key milestones, reviewing with subject matter experts, leads, and chief engineers for finalization
* Independently identify and draft clear risks with clear definition, appropriate risk scores, and actionable mitigation plans for vetting with stakeholder and leads

Qualifications:

* Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or other technical field
* 5+ year with system architecture, risk and TPM management for launch systems including the following:
* current technical hands-on experience in at least one of the areas:
* Analysis
* Design
* Integrated testing


* Current technical hands-on experience in at least one of focused discipline of:
* Fluids
* Thermal
* Propulsion
* Avionics or electrical hardware and/or software
* Structures
* Ground Operations
* Flight and/or Ground Autonomy




* Flexible mindset
* System mindset and aptitude
* Team player
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in teams
* Good execution and coordination skills
* Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

* 10+ year in system engineering and integration with strong system engineering/architecture thinking
* Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies
* Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Gen
* Experience in reliability, maintainability and operability analysis and execution
