The AR/VR organization's mission is to give people the tools to feel connected anytime, anywhere. The successful candidate will be a recognized technical innovator in the MEMS sensor industry and will have demonstrated impact through peer-reviewed publications in this field in recent years. You will also recognize that the industry is not trending with the requirements for AR & VR applications and you will be motivated to drive the necessary paradigm shift in sensor technology, i.e. to develop sensors that are optimized for the next wave of consumer products (AR & VR). At Facebook, you will be a key technical contributor behind the development of next generation localization sensors. This will involve close collaboration with groups developing SLAM algorithms, system software and SoCs as well as EE and ME design groups. This is a full-time position based in Redmond, WA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Contribute to MEMS design, layout, and fabrication



Identify key drivers for MEMS sensor error sources based on fundamental physics

Collaborate closely with our computer vision/optical scientists, SOC designers and system architects

Maintain a knowledge of the technical developments/activities of key industry and academic players

Assess and recommend emerging sensing technologies through close partnership with external, industry leading suppliers

Be the technical lead in various third party relationships

Employ scientific method to debug, diagnose and drive the resolution of complex, cross-disciplinary system issues

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Available to start employment on or after July 1, 2019



Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar

2+ years experience in MEMS sensor design and fabrication, sensor module integration for mobile platforms, noise and system performance evaluation, system calibration, and algorithm development

Experience in analyzing industry trends and disruptive technologies

Experience with L-Edit, MATLAB, and COMSOL

Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
