Facebook Reality Lab is a world leader in the development of future generations of AR/VR systems. We are currently seeking a Research Scientist in Redmond, WA. The research agenda is focused on advanced sensing that is multi-disciplinary and at the intersection of sensing hardware and software across the stack of sensors, system, computer vision algorithms and applications. The position requires a MS/PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or similar field.
* Research and develop future advanced sensing systems
Develop and optimize new image signal processing pipeline and computer vision algorithms for high performance, low-power, low latency implementation
Algorithm development in areas such as autoexposure, denoising, demosaicing, color correction, feature extraction, depth estimation, and object tracking using C/C++ coding and mathematical modeling languages (e.g. MATLAB)
Lead/Support system performance evaluation and benchmarking by modeling, simulation, testing, data collection, and tradeoff study. Perform software and hardware co-optimization in a full stack solution
Collaborate with internal and external research scientists, hardware and software engineers, and third party vendors throughout development phases
* MS degree in the field of Computer Science, Computer Vision, Imaging Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Imaging or a related field
Experience in one or more of the following fields: Image Signal Processing, Computational Imaging, Sensor Design and Modeling, 3D Reconstruction, Mapping & Localization, 3D geometry, Physics based models, or a related field
4+ years' experience with real world system building and data collection, including design, coding (C++), debugging and evaluation (C++/Python)
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
* PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, Computational Imaging or a related field
Experience with optical sensing devices and ISP, image quality evaluation, camera calibration and image tuning. Experience in computational imaging algorithms and system development
Hands-on experience with 3D computer vision algorithms including Calibration, SLAM, Reconstruction, Mapping, Localization, Tracking and Image Processing
Experience with formulating and solving algorithm optimization problems
Experience publication in leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICCP, RSS, ICRA, etc.
