Requisition Number: 30678 Job Title: ADMINISTRATIVE ANALYST I, PRINCIPAL Working Title: Research Scientist Salary: $5,325 - $10,533 monthly Job Type: Contract Department Name: 3007-BRUINX Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: The Research Scientist is responsible for helping to enhance and foster equity, diversity, inclusion and campus climate though design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and report preparation related to strategic priorities and goals of the Associate Vice Chancellor for BruinX ("AVC Bx") and Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion ("VC EDI"). The Research Scientist supports the on-going data initiatives of BruinX by helping to ensure that campus leadership (academic and administrative) has timely data and information to support needs assessments, program and policy planning/evaluation, trend analyses, and exploratory research relevant to campus equity, diversity, and inclusion goals and initiatives. The Research Scientist also supports BruinX and its members' efforts to foster accountability through the use of appropriately designed and implemented analyses and reports and through the tracking of institutional data, research, and records relevant to the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

The Research Scientist also assists in various equity, diversity, and inclusion-related training efforts concerning topics such as confronting bias, creating inclusive learning environments, and implicit bias. The Research Scientist will assist with content development and/or deliver trainings to different campus constituencies. 14 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred

Demonstrated experience in the field of institutional research and its scope and role in a research university.

Preferred

Demonstrated ability or evidence suggesting the ability to work independently or as a member of a group to complete tasks effectively within a constrained time frame and budget.

Required

Demonstrated ability or evidence suggesting the ability to support development of and/or provide equity, diversity and inclusion-related trainings, workshops, and presentations.

Required

Training and experience in social science research methods, including but not limited to experimental and quasi-experimental research design, evaluation research, survey methods, statistical analysis, and ethics and human subjects protection.

Required

Experience working in higher education and working knowledge in the areas of academic personnel, research, student support, enrollment, information technology, and other functions specific to a university environment.

Preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly when reporting on research methods and findings.

Required

Working knowledge of the structure and functional design of relational databases, the implementation of complex business rules into database design, and the establishment and maintenance of database standards.

Required

Familiarity with SPSS, SAS, STATA and other standard statistical analysis tools for social science data analysis.

Required

Knowledge of advanced multivariate statistical analysis techniques of the social sciences, including descriptive and predictive modeling.

Required

Knowledge of various survey research methodologies.

Required

Demonstrated ability to compose error-free, concise, well-organized and unambiguous prose to communicate complex information and research findings to a variety of audiences.

Required

Ability to design and execute of empirical research projects.

Required

Strong interpersonal skills. Responsive to the needs of senior leadership and able to foster cooperative relationships with co-workers as a member or leader of a workgroup. Ability to initiate and maintain positive and productive working relationships with professional staff beyond the organizational unit.

Required

Ph.D. strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and equivalent experience.
