About Us

The Report Developer/Data Visualization Developer is a key member of the Enterprise Data Group, and reports to the Director, Enterprise Analytics. This role is charged with producing high-impact charts, maps and graphics in Looker, enabling the Girl Scouts movement to make better data-driven decisions. Numeracy, statistical thinking and the ability to 'design with data' will be central to this role. You should be curious, meticulous and have good communication judgement. You should also have the ability to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions and provide support to end users. Above all, you will have a passion for data-driven visual storytelling.

You Will

* Designs and develops data visualization products in Looker for the Girl Scouts movement that include high-impact charts, maps, and statistical graphics. Drives data storytelling and knowledge to help users find insight.
* Understands what data and reports are relevant to the end user. Provides input and recommendations to business requirements for the design of solutions.
* Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, and anomalies and trends.
* Creates a culture of data and develops a distinctive look and feel for the organization's data visualization work.
* Creates guidelines for visualization standards and best practices, and performance optimization strategies.

You Need

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
* 5+ years of non-profit experience
* 5+ years of experience as a data visualization developer or in an analytically driven role
* Advanced proficiency with data visualization using business intelligence tools such as Looker (preferred), Tableau, Qlikview, etc.
* Experience managing a variety of data visualization projects from conception to completion. The ability to prioritize, iterate and deliver valuable results quickly, demonstrating good editorial judgement.
* Working knowledge of statistics and the ability to apply statistical reasoning to data and analysis questions.
* Ability to communicate insights verbally, visually, and in writing.
* Proactive self-starter and team player with high attention to detail and strong multi-tasking abilities.
* SQL experience preferred.
* Experience using visualization libraries such as D3 and custom shape files using TopoJSON, a plus.
* Strong skills in computational analysis and visualization tools including R and Python, a plus.
