Job Description

Amazon Web Services is innovating new ways of building massively scalable distributed systems and delivering the next generation of cloud services for commercial and public sector customers around the world. We hold high standards for our computer systems and the services we deliver to our customers: our systems are highly secure, highly reliable, highly available, all while functioning at massive scale. Our employees are smart, passionate about the cloud, driven to serve customers, and fun to work with.

We launch new regions around the world to meet the growing demand for AWS Services. Regions are the primary means by which AWS delivers services. Planning new region launches requires exceptionally talented and driven people to align build activities with evolving best practices, requirements, and improvements in design and operations. In this role, your primary responsibility will be developing requirements and implementation plans in concert with customer account teams for new AWS regions. You will work with with stakeholders and executives throughout AWS service teams, finance, human resources, and senior executives. This role is critical for continuing AWS infrastructure and service expansion worldwide as we support strategic geographic locations and large customers. If you have strong program management, IT infrastructure and/or programming experience, a strong desire to improve and automate, can communicate highly technical concepts, are comfortable inventing new methods, and are passionate about delivering great customer experiences we'd like to speak with you.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with Service Teams, Infrastructure, Product Teams, and Business Development to design and deliver new AWS regions, and then seamlessly transition new regions from design phase to build phase. You will assess risks, anticipate issues, overcome technical obstacles, make difficult trade-off decisions, and balance business needs and technical constraints, particularly when unique requirements arise for customers or countries.

Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail oriented, have excellent problem solving abilities, and have a continuous desire to improve and automate. You will accurately represent program status to senior leadership. Your program management expertise and operational excellence will influence the team's decisions and drive secure and scaleable solutions.
