Group 45 - Informatics and Decision Support
The Informatics and Decision Support Group develops advanced software systems,analytics, and human-systems interface solutions to improve the timeliness, confidence,and optimality of decisions. The Group emphasizes human-in-the-loop distributed and collaborative decision making and analytics over big, heterogeneous, data sets. The application areas for the Group are diverse, and include military deployment and distribution services, health informatics, security and intelligence, transportation security, chemical and biological defense, and disaster management. The technology focus for the Group includes software architectures and systems, video analytics, serious games, information mining and fusion, human factors, and natural language processing. The Group's projects encompass and influence activities from early problem definition and system concept definitions, to prototype development and operator evaluations.
Real-Time Data Processing Software Developer
Candidate will engineer software systems to implement real-time data processing capabilities for Homeland security and Defense applications. Such prototype software systems will demonstrate critical interpretation and recognition tasks on image, video, text, and other data feeds in operational environments. Candidate must have expertise with methods for computationally intensive real-time processing (e.g., multi-core processing) and integration with third-party systems via common messaging or web service formats, and must also have prior experience building robust data processing systems.
The candidate must possess a Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent field. In lieu of an MS degree, a BS degree with at least three years of directly related experience will be considered. Experience with software engineering methods, real-time systems, and C++ is required. Experience with Python, CUDA, multi-core processing, or distributed cloud computation models is desired, as is basic familiarity with computer vision or machine learning methods.
