IBM Q team is driving research and development of the industry's most advanced quantum computing hardware and software and helping our clients explore the use of quantum computing for their most pressing business challenges. We're looking for a talented Visual Designer to join our multi-disciplinary team to create great web experiences that enable a diverse set of specialized audiences to use the new tools we create to usher in an entirely new era of computing.

Our team is comprised of user experience designers, visual designers, front-end developers, and design researchers. We are looking for a passionate designer who can create websites and applications that meet and exceed our users' needs. We operate as a nimble, agile team that goes from zero to MVP in a matter of weeks through great collaboration and communication.

As a Visual Designer, you will help create digital solutions that communicate a complex subject matter of quantum and other technologies to a variety of audiences, by creating pleasant and on-brand user experiences. Furthermore, you will leverage the best UX practices and the IBM Design System to elevate existing and new digital solutions across web, mobile, and other platforms.

An optimal candidate should be a passionate, curious and a self-driven team player who has a strong collaboration ethic while working with a global multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, the applicant should be comfortable working with evolving scope and project specifications and should be comfortable adapting to new visual systems and meeting brand requirements.

This position is located in Austin, TX or Yorktown Heights, NY

Bachelor's degree in design, user experience or human computer interaction is required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

* Experience in visual design tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and others (Figma, XD, etc.)
* Experience working in agile process
* Examples of deliverables across multiple platforms
* Good understanding of current industry trends in digital design
* Demonstrated visual design skills like typography, layout, hierarchy, imagery, color, etc.
* Experience in working on a multi-disciplinary team with UX Designers and Developers.
* Working with Design Researchers to understand stakeholders, users and the markets in which they operate
* Portfolio of examples that support the job description

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

* Experience in visual design tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and others (Figma, XD, etc.)
