Requisition Number: 30589 Job Title: PROGRAMMER/ANALYST III Working Title: Quality Assurance & Release Management Analyst Salary: $5,234 - $10,358 monthly Job Type: Career Department Name: 4100-ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION SYSTEMS Department Website URL: www.it.ucla.edu Job Summary Statement: As a member of the Application Services team, the Quality Assurance & Release Management Analyst is responsible for the planning, design, development and implementation of test plans related to large-scale systems development or implementation efforts for the UCLA Campus. General responsibilities include applying industry best practices for quality assurance, applying modern techniques for automated testing of applications, conducting value-based exploratory testing, data integrity across platforms, development of re-usable test scripts (library), and the full span of testing types/methods including black box, white box, smoke testing, functional, performance, regression and compliance. QA Analyst will identify, define and document application defects; tracks and monitors defects through resolution; contributes to the deployments of all product releases and expedited fixes; conducts analysis and provides case-related risk assessments. The Analyst will also work collaboratively with end users, subject matter experts, functional stakeholders and development teams to plan and oversee the testing phase of the application life-cycle; develops reports or metrics related to application quality; develops formal project plans for application testing; thoroughly documents defects and conducts root cause analysis; applies knowledge of Agile and traditional Waterfall methods to quality assurance and release planning efforts. May contribute to other phases of the application life-cycle, including requirements elicitation, system documentation and end user support or training. 17 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred

Three or more years of experience working in IT Quality Assurance and Release Management.

Required

Experience analyzing requirements, developing test approaches, writing comprehensive test plans and test cases, and preparing test data for data testing.

Required

Experience applying Agile methodology to develop and execute application test plans including continuous integration and test-driven development.

Required

An understanding of quality assurance test methodologies, deliverables, processes, strategies, techniques and the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Required

Ability to conduct needs analysis using requirements for various business processes, including information flow, reporting and applications for defined functional area; ability to document using standard terminology and formatting.

Required

Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation; ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.

Required

Ability to develop project plans for assigned work; ensures tasks are completed within planned time frame; ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Required

Knowledge and experience with JIRA for tracking of issues and tasks.

Required

Demonstrated experience with testing at various phases of life-cycle (unit, integration, system, acceptance, regression) and test efficiencies (performance, stress, capacity).

Required

Demonstrated experience with modern Application Life Cycle Management processes and tools for code management, version control, build management, continuous integration, integrated development environments, issue tracking, quality assurance and test automation.

Required

Skilled in the design, development and implementation of processes and procedures that drive standardized management of application life-cycle activities.

Required

Ability to create documentation for Functional and UAT testers, identify training needs and train testers.

Required

Skill and experience to effectively utilize common office productivity software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, and internet browsers.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (or similar) OR equivalent relevant professional experience and education.

Required

Knowledge of automated testing methods, tools and processes.

Preferred

Proficiency with Service-Now service management application.

Professional experience working within higher education information technology.
