Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Security Operations Center (SOC) is a US Government program responsible to prevent, identify, contain and eradicate cyber threats to CBP networks through monitoring, intrusion detection and protective security services to CBP information systems including local area networks/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), commercial Internet connection, public facing websites, wireless, mobile/cellular, cloud, security devices, servers and workstations. The CBP SOC is responsible for the overall security of CBP Enterprise-wide information systems, and collects, investigates and reports any suspected and confirmed security violations. The DHS CBP SOC Program has a critical need for Project Lead to manage a variety of projects and tasks to completion. This is a full time funded position based in Alexandria, VA.

Job Description

The Project Lead will directly support the SOC Program Manager in managing multiple tasks to closure within this critical, fast-paced environment. Roles and responsibilities include facilitating/tracking SOC program-related projects to closure, including updates in standard operating procedures (SOPs); updating program management structures; managing technical ad-hoc projects to improve SOC service quality and efficiency. The Project Lead will need to work under the direction of the Program Manager to prioritize operational issues, engineering activities and development efforts to drive SOC schedule(s) to completion.

Primary Responsibilities will include:

Working under the direction of the PM, manage/track multiple tasks to closure impacting SOC program cost/scope/schedule and service quality. Serve as communications liaison between Program Manager and SOC staff, interact with client to document requirements provide status as required.

Lead updates to SOPs/Best Practices.

Support lead key customer briefings and generally assist SOC Program Manager (Government and contractor in execution and strategy).

Lead other projects and small task orders of program.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 2 to 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Two yea rs federal technical program support experience, with 1-2 years of small project leadership (5+people). Experience with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook - Strong communication skills

Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret SCI. In addition to specific security clearance requirements all Department of Homeland Security SOC employees are required to obtain an Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance to support this program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Formal education in business, project management, or information systems; solid track record working with federal programs' project financials, project schedules and roadmaps, deliverables, etc.; experience simultaneously managing multiple tasks to closure; Previous experience with DHS customer a plus; experience in Security Operations Center (SOC) or Networking Operations good, but not required; Project Management Tool experience working with MS project; work in Engineering a Task Management solution like JIRA.
