Job Description

While Basketball Operations runs the league's on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world's most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA's success.

This 10 month project position requires a person who has well rounded knowledge of television systems including transmission, video, audio and control systems workflow. Person must also have a strong understanding of computer networking environments and the capability of troubleshooting across them. This individual will be the lead technical support for NBA domestic and international distribution during live games. Person will also support the live production environment and must be able to act independently and make reasonable and cognitive decisions.

Major Responsibilities

* Check-in all inbound and outbound feeds for technical continuity.
* Arena Network (HSAN) support including remote troubleshooting and the ability to lead remote technicians to resolution.
* Advanced routing of SDI baseband & IP signals.
* Interact / Support: Remote Arena Engineers, Production, IT, Operations & Domestic/International Customers/Vendors.
* Manage automation systems.
* Support live channel environment for NBATV International, production control rooms & Game Distribution Center
* Create detailed technical reports.
* Ability to work all shifts associated with 24x7x365 production environments

Required Skills/Knowledge

* Must have a strong knowledge of video compression, transport systems and technology.
* Thorough knowledge of broadcast television standards, workflow, and technologies responsible for routing, switching, encoding, audio processing and distribution.
* Knowledge and ability to handle systems routing, quality control issues, and variations in production requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively.
* Experience with HD broadcasts and knowledge of HD systems.

Experience Needed

* 2 - 4 years of broadcast engineering or technical operations experience.

Educational Background Required

* College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field In lieu a college degree significant field experience will be considered
