About Bae Systems

Job Description

You don't see it, but it's there. Our employees work on the world's most advanced electronics -from saving emissions in the City of Lights to powering the Mars Rover to protecting the F-35 fighter jet. At Electronic Systems, you'll be among the brightest minds, working on the aerospace and defense industry's most difficult problems. Drawing strength from our differences, we're innovating for the future. And you can, too. Our flexible work environment provides you a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first -exemplified by our missions: "We Protect Those Who Protect Us®" and "We Innovate For Those Who Move The World." Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems.

We are looking for a Program Manager who wants to help in the research and development of cutting edge tracking and fusion technologies. Successful candidates will be able to work independently as a Program Manager. The failure to meet milestones or tasks can result in delays in program scheduling or the expenditure of additional resources. Candidate should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, leadership, problem-solving skills, and promote an awareness of BAE Systems internal opportunities.

As a Program Manager in DEFI, you will help lead new programs across our tracking and fusion portfolio. Our typical project duration is 1-3 years, which helps keep the research new and interesting, but the projects don't just die when the initial program ends. DEFI is part of BAE Systems FAST Labs, which acts as the research and development core of Electronic Systems' five other business areas. Once we finish the research, we work to transition our programs to those business areas. Our tracking, fusion, and analytic algorithms go to the Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Intelligence, Surveillance, and Recognizance Systems (C4ISR) business area to improve their products that are used by military and intelligence analysts every day. Or they may go to the Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) business area to add capability to their electronic warfare systems installed on aircraft like the F-35 or B-2. By sitting at the heart of BAE Systems' R&D organization, our research has a direct path through the greater company to enhance the capabilities of American soldiers.

The basic functions of the job include:

* Accountable for all aspects of assigned programs' execution (cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, inventory management, and customer engagement) and ensuring program commitments are met, having the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to the project.
* Acts as primary point of contact between BAE Systems and the customer program office, suppliers, and key customer stakeholders.
* Responsible and accountable to the Business Segment Management for program execution, profitability, timeliness, and overall success. Makes decisions that are cost effective to the company and ensures assigned projects meet financial commitments for orders, sales, profit and cash flow.
