Amazon Robotics (AR) is seeking a technical program manager to drive multiple initiatives that support our continued and rapid growth and expansion in North America (NA). You will form part of a small, but high profile team of technical integration specialists that work alongside our construction, hardware engineering and deployment engineering partners to deliver complex robotics facilities. The Technical Integration team's primary objective is to ensure that critical technical and environmental requirements are correctly interpreted and incorporated into all new robotics buildings and that all installed robotics systems fully comply with local building codes and fire/life safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong construction management or fulfillment center engineering background with experience in warehouse automation, robotics picking or robotics transportation systems. The candidate will need to be an experienced leader/manager with strong analytical capabilities and a track record of managing complex programs. The candidate should have some technical consulting experience with proven program or project management skills, as well as excellent listening, communication and facilitation skills.

This position involves regular communication with senior management on progress, risk management and problem resolution. Ability to lead cross functional and multi-disciplinary teams as well proven project management and presentation skills are essential. Additionally, we expect that our technical managers have a customer focus and have the ability to operate independently.

This job will require a unique combination of energy, flexibility, tenacity, leadership skills, and proactive management. It also requires travel, up to 40-50% of overall time, to locations across North America.

AR technical consultant: serve as primary AR POC for NA Design & Construction teams & their design/consulting partners to address robotics technical queries and to educate new partners with respect to critical AR operating and environmental requirements during both pre-construction and construction phases. Also to own and manage requests for AR specification variations/deviations, as considered necessary from time to time to comply with local legal requirements and/or local industry practices.

AR technical compliance: collaborate with NA Design & Construction teams & consulting partners to validate and report on technical compliance with regard to critical technical and environmental operating requirements (i.e. floor flatness, levelness, floor joints, floor surface characteristics, floor live loading and deflections, floor penetrations, ambient lighting levels). Primary objective is to identify potential issues as close to point of construction as possible and initiate corrective measures to minimize impact to deployment/launch phase.

Fire and building code compliance: coordinate/manage in-house assessment of proposed layout, system behavior and system level integration, according to local code requirements for both life safety and fire safety compliance.

Problem solving/issue resolution: manage and coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve specification shortfalls/deviations, non-compliant finishes and system level change requests. Manage escalations to NA D&C and AR leadership teams, as required.

Specification Development: take a lead role driving further development of AR building technical and environmental specifications. Support and manage as required, local field trials and experiments, materials development and finishing/re-finishing trials.

Defect monitoring and reporting: coordinate and manage condition monitoring of problem/defective floors and environmental issues where AR system performance is affected or expected to be affected.
