Job Description

Overall Purpose: Deliver the highest level, Tier-3, Ntwk tech support within ATTs tech support structure requiring 24x7 on call from escalating organizations. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Provides the technical troubleshooting and leadership skills required to recover from the most complex network problems in real time, directing the activities of technical resources from Tier-2, Labs, and the vendors to restore service. Responsible for the investigation and mgmt of all follow-up activities needed to determine root cause, attempt problem recreation in the lab, identify workarounds, delivery and certification of vendor fixes or design changes, and plan for the implementation within the network. Develop scripts to pro-actively identify known defect signatures and define the least intrusive recovery processes. Develop scripts to extract forensic data from ntwk elements and analyze to identify patterns of unexpected behavior. Responsible for the reliability of the end-to-end ntwk and the quality of the delivered service tracking and analyzing outage patterns leading to identification of chronic issues. ATTs SME to customers. Responsible for all equipment and software vendor mgmt relationships, insuring objectives are being met. Provides feedback during the negotiation of maintenance contracts. Responsible for the final phase of planning and preparation for the insertion of new technology and changes into the ntwk. Review and signoff of Lab designs. Design, equipment, software certification testing. Development and testing of the detailed methods and procedures for introduction of new technology and the handoff to Tier-2 Network Operations and Project Mgmt org for field implementation. Develop troubleshooting guides and deliver knowledge transfer on new designs and technology. Gather and analyze relevant ntwk element field data to validate the expected improvements and features of the field changes. Manage the risk of new technology introduction. KNOWLEDGE: Subject matter expert within own discipline/specialty area. Applies specialized knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and work processes. Integrates company experience and deep technical knowledge. Advanced understanding of select ATT technologies/systems/procedures.

Works on problems requiring judgment and in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Analyzes/interprets research to evaluate and recommend solutions.

INDEPENDENCE: Guided by team goals and operational objectives. Applies judgment to determine appropriate processes and technical area standard; provides technical direction to others in own work area.

CONTRIBUTION TO ATT TECHNOLOGY: Key contributor on diverse projects of moderate scope. Recommends new procedures/processes to drive desired results.

COMMUNICATION: Mentors less experienced team members in work area explaining advanced technical information and providing specialized technical guidance. Builds productive internal/external relationships. Collaborates with others in own team or across teams.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Math or Science preferred or related experience. Experience: 5-8 yrs preferred Supervisory: No.

Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATT compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions."

Required Qualifications -

* Basic Understanding of Operating Systems
* Proficient in Design and Implementation and database development
* Proficient in IP Protocols, Service Applications and Multicast
* Proficient in Layer 1, 2 and 3 Protocols
* Basic Understanding of Network Management and Performance
* Basic Understanding of RF and Signaling techniques
* Proficient in E911/LBS architecture, services, technologies and platforms

Desired Qualifications -

* Bachelor of Science in CS, EE, Math, Physics, MIS, Telecom, Sciences
* 5-8 years of experience
