POSITION SUMMARY:

This individual will have responsibility for conducting the product application process, including the proper application and selection of automotive/heavy duty/other-motive products for both Gates Corporation and Gates Catalog Services clients. This process is in support of Product Marketing, Catalog Services, Sales Teams, Pricing and Customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5% of the incumbent's time. Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.

Application Process: The incumbent will help to build strong relationships with the Automotive Technician community at vehicle dealerships, automotive technician industry initiatives, and application data vendors. He will find and implement new ways of collecting and processing data in order to improve the application process; share knowledge learned with stake holders; and ensures the quality of the process.

Discrepancies: the incumbent will respond to discrepancies such that valid discrepancies are improved or eliminated year to year. He will determine new ways to deliver key educational information to technicians so that the discrepancies are reduced.

New Product Introductions: The incumbent will help product managers develop existing or new products for Gates, including recommendations and testing. He will guide new product development in creating new best solution products and kits for all future applications. Will utilize current internal database programs.

Customer Service: Incumbent will provide a customer service roll within the national technical hotline and develop statistics that lead to new products or process changes that will result in new product opportunities. The incumbent recognizes the need for rapid response of application research.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* BA/BS degree is preferred or equivalent work experience
* ASE Certification
* 3-5 yrs of specific experience
* Spanish speaking is preferred
* Experience in dealing directly with customer is preferred.
* Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
* Self-motivated, capable of seeking quality solutions and continuously focusing on process improvements, while keeping the needs of the business in the forefront.
* Effective communication skills both written and oral.
* High degree of mechanical aptitude required.
* Project management skills helpful.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
* Extremely organized, ability to juggle multiple priorities and flexible to accommodate changing business needs and fixed deadlines.
* Strong team player; proactively able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills: understanding of appropriate escalation points.
* Takes responsibility for personal development.
* Experience with Automotive, Heavy Duty (on/off road) and/or other vehicle applications a must.
* Must be capable of understanding vehicle part blueprints/documentation provided by OEMs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
