Job Description

This position is an advanced level associate working with document workflow processes in a print production environment. It focuses on Color Operation and has responsibility for preflight file conversion and advanced digital front end color management as well operating production devices and advanced finishing services and job quality assurance.

Main Responsibilities

* Set up, operate and maintain networked digital color production printing system and front-end color servers - configure job-processing settings, manage job queues, process files, and print jobs. Operate imaging software to organize workflow of imaging projects.
* Prioritize, schedule and execute document workflow process activities (prepress to delivery).
* Perform operator maintenance on equipment per manufacturer specifications. Troubleshoot machine issues as needed, contact and follow up with Technical services as required.
* Convert digital files to formats such PostScript, XML, etc. for import into document management systems.
* Maintain color matching to account standards or requirements, also performing color calibration using densitometers and spectrophotometers as needed and perform CMYK color adjustments. Invoke spot colors on Device Front End.
* Deliver output per contracted customer requirements and provide finishing services using appropriate equipment based on contract providing customer consultation with respect to print capability/ document finishing options.
* Engage and procure special materials and/or external services from appropriate third party suppliers to support jobs requirements
* Record meter reads for billing purposes and track SLA compliance through various data points in a timely and accurately manner.

Education, Sills, Knowledge & Abilities

* Associates Degree - Graphics Design or technically-oriented degree or equivalent experience.
* Customer Service Skills, ability to prioritize through customer request and meet or exceed expectations.
* General Digital printing experience as well as operating high volume, networked printing systems.
* Experience with basic color production workflows with emphasis on digital workflows
* Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
* Listen, understand & communicate effectively.
* Able to work with cross-functional teams.
* Able to work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize, and work to scheduled delivery of output.
* Download and install files (fonts, drivers, etc.) from internet sites; open, complete and save/print internet forms
* Able to perform Mail Merges
* Basic knowledge of network (e.g., how to add or delete a network printer)
* Working knowledge of key variable data applications i.e. XMPie, PrintShop Mail, Fusion Pro.
* Advanced knowledge and experience with imposition within page layout applications.
* Catalog Electronic documents to various forms of media or Digital Storage.
* Validate or adjust the manufacturing layout & imposition of files. Validate description with Front End.
* Knowledge of various finishing operations and equipment (in-line and off-line).
* Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
* Work with electronic document management systems such as DocuShare & SharePoint - upload files, establish permissions, etc.
* Able to Estimate and schedule complex jobs.
* Able to Use scanning halftones, photographs, document image enhancement, subset finishing, in-line finishing.
* Knowledge on Preflight checking and error correction of files, Font Management, Trapping.
* Able to troubleshoot complex PDL, PDF, and VIPP workflow issues such as trapping, overprinting, and performance optimization.
* Able to Set up variable information workflow and design Variable Information Jobs.
* High degree of knowledge of Adobe and other graphic arts applications.
* Knowledgeable about the function, features and capabilities of digital front ends
* Functional knowledge of PC and MAC Applications and Operating system (i.e. Apple) when required by client.
