Join the Microsoft Azure Cloud Capacity Engineering team to build the next generation of UX which will help deliver the best Capacity experience to some of the most demanding Azure customers - our enterprise customers. Next to feature richness and their cost, flexible and limitless capacity availability is one of the key decision points for these customers on their journey to the cloud. Once in the cloud, capacity experience for the customers to scale their footprint becomes extremely important from a customer satisfaction (CSAT) perspective. As a result, we are forming a brand-new team for creating unique, informative, and actionable user experiences for customers to manage their capacity across all their subscriptions, resources, and the regions in which they are deployed. In addition to providing customers visibility into their utilization, we will provide them with alerts when teams within their companies exceed their usage quotas, when there is a potential for their growth to be constrained by regional capacity and eventually for the customers to provide us with projections of their own growth so that we can include them in our capacity buildout plans. We will do this by ensuring that we have a solid API layer, so all interaction can be scripted by customers without needing to use the Azure Portal.

* Technical mastery: This role requires someone who can quickly step into a highly technical area, and help design the user experience, and an API Layer that makes it seamless and simple for users. Bonus points if you understand UX and highly scalable systems.
* Ability to lead a team of engineers: We hire the best. Leading the best requires not just technical mastery and innovation but also innovation in your management and interpersonal skills. We are looking for people with experience in people and technology management, but we will also consider excellent technical ICs aspiring to become people managers.
* Ability to lead change and drive own initiatives: Our team is a startup environment and, by definition, small and agile, so the ability to lead change and deal with ambiguity is a must. We are looking for highly motivated leaders who are interested in taking ownership of their area and running it end-to-end.
* Execution efficiency: for any task, there is usually a way to do it much faster. As a startup, we need to scale out massively, and quickly.
* Cross-team skills: Our team works with tens of partners, both internal and external. You will need to work closely with partner teams (both internal and external partners) to figure out solutions to current issues as well as drive planning together for future product releases.

Basic Qualifications

* 5+ Years of exceptional architectural design skills.
* BA/BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred but not required.

Preferred:

* Desire to work across teams, with program management, design, and quality to make the right technical and product decisions.
* Experience building scalable and fault-tolerant systems in the cloud/hybrid environments preferred
* The ability to thrive under ambiguity.
* Previous people management experience desired but not required
* The ideal candidate will possess expertise with the latest cutting-edge technologies used in building Web applications and Web services. Examples include C#, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, jQuery, Knockout.js, TypeScript, and ASP.NET MVC. Don't have experience with these? We will consider candidates who have a proven record of delivering in an agile environment and are willing to put in the effort to learn and to build up this highly sought after skill set.

As a Principal Engineering Lead on the team you will lead a team responsible for end to end deliverables of critical scenarios which will have large CSAT impact. You will be responsible for envisioning, designing, coding, validating and shipping large features, and driving your team towards precise and agile implementations. You will also be entrusted with the ownership of the overall architecture of the product, while working with the leadership team to help them drive product decisions based on your knowledge of the architecture and your deep understanding of the customer scenarios and code architecture.
