Job Description

The Microsoft Azure Performance Management Team is a multi-disciplinary team. The mission of this team is to enable Azure's distributed development teams to discover and diagnosis performance problem root-causes, then optimize the services, and to improve Azure's performance, reliability and availability. Our services will help to make Microsoft Azure's massive infrastructure run as efficiently and reliably as possible.

We are looking for a seasoned Group Principal Engineering Manager to join our team and help us to take our cloud services to the next level.

Basic Qualifications

* 8+ years as an Engineering Manager with a proven track record of large-scale service delivery or performance and Chaos engineering/Fault Injections related service delivery
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
* Demonstrated leadership, exceptional cross-team skills, and ability to influence others
* Hands-on experience with at least one of C#, C/C++, Java

Preferred Qualifications

* Technical background and extensive knowledge in infrastructure and systems management products or performance/Chaos engineering
* Experience delivering large cross-functional projects by partnering across multiple teams globally
* Familiarity with one of cloud infrastructure services (such as Azure, AWS, GC etc) is a plus.

In this role, you will lead and build strong team/teams focusing on building services and frameworks/Platforms in the Chaos Engineering area for Azure. The role will be a blend of people management and technical leadership, with a portion of your time devoted to individual software engineering contributions so you can keep your hands dirty and your skills current. You will also need to closely partner with other teams across the company to deliver the value. Means: you will need to be able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, work with internal and external customers to define product/tool/service, you will also need to roll up your sleeves, dig in and help drive change/solve problems.

To succeed in this role, you should possess solid analytical, design and problem diagnosis skills, especially in the cloud performance, reliability and Chaos engineering/Fault Injections areas. Expertise with high-performance systems or service design is a plus. You should be comfortable building and managing teams through all phases of software development, including hiring and growing your own teams. The ability to frame out the vision, system/product to solve critical business/technology problems or translate high-level technical requirements into executable project plans is essential.
