Job Description

In Cognition, people-not devices-are at the center of everything we do. Our tech moves beyond screens and pixels, creating a new reality aimed at bringing us closer together-whether that's scientists "meeting" on the surface of a virtual Mars or some yet undreamt-of possibility. To get there, we're incorporating diverse groundbreaking technologies, from the revolutionary Holographic Processing Unit to computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and more. We're a growing team of talented engineers and artists putting technology on a human path across all Windows devices, including Microsoft HoloLens, the Internet of Things, phones, tablets, desktops, and Xbox. We believe there has to be a better way. If you do too, we need you!

We're looking for a motivated software engineer with experience contributing to the design, implementation, bring-up, and validation of low-level systems for new platforms. Come talk with us if you have a strong systems background, a passion for OS internals, and experience with some of the following: Windows or LINUX internals, driver development, camera sensors, firmware development, instrumentation and testing, debugging, Wi-Fi, cellular, hardware bring-up, manufacturing, BSP and OS image creation, update/servicing, DMA engines, mobile platforms, RTOS, or GPU programming.

Required Qualifications:

* 7+ years of relevant software design and development experience.
* A degree in Computer Science or other technical degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with sensors and image processing technology.
* Excellent technical problem-solving, design, coding, and debugging skills.
* Experience writing performance-critical code in C/C++.

Bonus points

There are plenty of other skills that aren't required, but you'll find useful in this role. Let us know if you have experience with IOT devices, robotics, machine learning, or image processing.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

* Design and deliver firmware, drivers, tools, and OS components for our product.
* Assist with hardware bring-up, third-party driver integration, driver validation, and device manufacturing.
