Job Description

Readying on-premise infrastructure for a hybrid cloud is a top investment area for IT decision makers across the globe. The Engineering Systems Platform (ESP) team offers the opportunity to work on a large scale hybrid cloud implementation that helps enable the development of Windows, XBOX, etc. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to bring cutting edge solutions to secure both on-premises and cloud workloads. The scale of platforms and services we are building are among the largest in the world.

As a principal engineer on the team, your leadership will be critical in ensuring engineering rigor and driving security innovation. You must be passionate about building security services that provide high security, differentiated market value, and increase rather than decrease productivity. You will also have opportunities to incubate new ideas for additional business outcomes, and deliver high quality of service through live site excellence. You will be leading and influencing other engineers on the team and cross group and create and maintain positive and productive working relationships.

Required qualifications:

* A BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 7+ years software development experience (online services preferred) and experience in testing, deploying, operating, and supporting medium to large scale services on Azure, AWS or similar environments

Preferred qualifications:

* Experience with practical cryptographic uses including signing, encryption, and the usage of certificates
* Excellent C#, C++\C, Python or Java coding skills
* Knowledge and application of security technologies is highly desirable but not required.
* Experience designing and delivering large scale distributed systems with focus on security.
* Prior exposure to technologies such as Azure, WCF, Net, Claims based identity (WIF), .Net/C#
* Experience with PKI and certificate management
* Capable of technical deep-dives into service and systems design, data movement pipelines, networking, storage, monitoring, security, and capacity planning
* Great design and problem-solving skills, with a strong emphasis on quality and engineering excellence
* Strong sense of ownership and accountability to deliver projects and results of increasing technical complexity and ability to handle ambiguity
* Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment
* Passionate about sharing your experiences and knowledge and growing your peers

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
