Job Description

Accessibility affects all of us, whether we have a disability that is situational, temporary (broken arm), or onset due to aging. It is extremely likely that you, or someone you know, is personally affected by a disability at some point in their lives.

At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. This mission connects in fundamental ways with how we as a company operate, how we design and develop technology and how we work with others to serve people with disabilities. To make our products and services accessible, we need to know when we have issues and how to fix them. In other words, our tools need to help us more easily and quickly find and fix accessibility issues.

We are the Microsoft Accessibility Insights team within Developer Services. We have been chartered and funded by the CEO to improve the quality of the accessibility tools used within Microsoft. We have created open-source developer-centric diagnostic tools for both web and Windows desktop development. These tools have been released publicly and have been very well received by our initial users. We are looking to extend these tools with more features and coverage.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
* 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and managing a team of software engineers.
* 10+ years of commercial software engineering covering all stages of the release cycle.
* Great problem solving and design skills, with demonstrated passion for quality, performance and engineering excellence
* Knowledge and passion for Agile development practices, including continuous integration, test-driven development and pair-programming.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or the recruiting process, please send a request via the Accommodation request form.

Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work.

We have an amazing opportunity for a talented and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead 6-8 engineers within the Accessibility Insights team. The work will center around developing our open-source services stack and accessibility scanning engines across Windows, Android and iOS.
