What you'll be doing...

The Principal Member of Technical Staff position is being created to fulfill requirements within the Virtualization organization in support of NTVS, future NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and SDN (Software Defined Networks) initiatives. This position will have considerable responsibility for deploying and operating the Verizon control cloud as well as the network edge for the Verizon Clouds.

* Modularly deploying solutions in varying physical and virtual environments that will require the individual to determine the manner to best work around the varying environments and must be able to autonomously determine what is best based on the overall design and associated principles.
* Onboarding of VNFs and operationalizing the environments will also be tasks performed by the engineer. Adapting to the agile DevOps culture, principals, and tools is a must in working in this environment.
* Deploy solutions in varying environments that will require the individual to determine the manner to best work around the varying environments and must be able to autonomously determine what is best based on the overall design and associated principles.
* Develop the virtualization integration, troubleshooting, and remediation requirements and practices.
* Directly interacts with vendors, transport teams, Virtualization teams, Planning, and numerous other VZ teams involved in virtualization of various services. Due to the complexity and responsibility, the employee is heavily relied upon for many aspects of the transport and engineering process.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

* Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
* Six or more years of relevant work experience.
* Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

* A degree in computer science or related field.
* Linux/RHEL skills including Python or JSON scripting, Netconf, REST, and YAML as it relates to NFV orchestration principals.
* Certifications - Cisco, Juniper, F5, A10, HP, RedHat, Openstack, ALU, or Nokia.
* Atlassian tools - Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, HipChat.
* Automation tools - Ansible, Tower, NSO, Pronghorn.
* Web development for real time dashboards using APIs, PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML a plus.
* Knowledge in Agile / DevOps development methodologies.
* Experience building and deploying cloud-based applications (OpenStack).Experience configuring SDN/NFV/Container/KVM/ IaaS.
* Experience in Scripting / software development of code for automating network function.
* Experience in OpenStack, VMWare, RHV and other virtual infrastructure managers.
