Job Description

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Basic Qualifications:

This position entails the development and support of Mission software products for NGIS National Security Space division. This includes performing the systems engineering development of products, including conducting trade studies, establishing requirements, and defining interfaces to existing software modules. The position will require capability to develop software routines and code to support wider mission architecture products - primarily in MATLAB and Python. Some familiarity with C/C offers additional capability. Position will be customer focused, and presentation of complex software in an operational setting will be regular responsibility. Position requires knowledge of Spacecraft systems, Space/Ground architectures, and some familiarity with Orbital mechanics. Position will also require addressing program studies for existing programs.

Job Responsibilities

1.Creates system requirements and manages both requirement changes in the Requirements Management databases under self direction using established guidelines for a small project.

2.Creates and manages both original and revised specification/interface definition documents for a project and expedites documents through signature approval prorocess.

3.Creates and manages the requirements verification methods and database provided to the customer, to ensure data products are current, as the system design/build matures, that it satisfies each system requirement.

4.Creates and modifies project level management tracking reports.

5.Participates and supports proposal-writing efforts for Systems Engineering for a portion of a project.

6.Provides data to and manages risk management (identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies)and trade study processes for a portion of a project.

7.Creates and manages changes to Functional/Logical/Physical Model of System Architecture descriptions under self direction using established guidelines.

8.Creates and manages System Representations under self direction using established guidelines.

9.Technical Resource Budgets and Configuration Control Board participation.

10.Leads aspects of system design, analyses, interface verification, testing, major failure/anomaly resolution or mission operations.

11.Creates and manages changes to system or subsystem analytical models under self direction using established guidelines. Can identify issues with model.

12.Defines and Develop system and subsystem architectures(s), system physical views - system elements (blocks) and critical interfaces (internal and external).

13.Supports and leads the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.

14.Directs and Runs existing system or subsystem analytical models and simulations to collect data under self direction using established guidelines.

15.Prepare and present materials during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review.

16.Leads and prepares trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and timelines and conops development.

17.Performs cost estimates and project planning for a portion of larger project.

Acts as CAM and performs EVMS tracking for a small portion of a large project.

Requires BS in Engineering & 7 years or Masters in Engineering & 5 years or PhD & 2 years.
