OVERVIEW:

SRC is searching for a senior Data Center Storage Engineer to support development, integration and testing for the DoD's next generation Space Situational Awareness (SSA) system. The system will consist of an on-premises Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) data center utilizing technologies including Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Nimble Storage, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), switches, and firewalls. The IaaS will host a Platform as a Service (PaaS) initially using Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) that will in turn host SSA applications under development from geographically separated teams situated in Santa Monica CA and Colorado Springs CO. Development, integration and testing will be conducted at the government's facility in San Diego CA. The system will meet DoD network accreditation standards in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Understands and optimizes the technical design and operation of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Linux/Unix operating systems, storage systems, network systems and applies solutions to allow each to co-exist efficiently in the data center
* Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of data center components including power, server and infrastructure hardware, networking and storage
* Responsible for provisioning and set-up of virtual infrastructure, scaling, configuration, and backups of data center components based on Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) methodology
* Duties include design and capacity planning, installation, deployment, performance evaluation, system tuning, storage allocation, and administration for hardware and virtual components
* Solves routine problems with software, performs network traces, and deep dives into hardware and firmware issues to determine major contributing factors and apply fixes
* Install, test, and terminate data/telecommunications cables, including Ethernet and Fiber media
* Documents procedures to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software for storage systems. Maintains efficient and reliable backup and disaster recovery procedures.
* Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, reviewing alerts and analytics, documenting problems, changes, and solutions
* Configures data center systems (i.e. firewalls) in compliance with RMF network security standards
* Performs daily walk-through of data center and associated spaces. Monitors status of power distribution systems, servers, network equipment and any other devices installed and in operation
* Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies, performs technology research/evaluation
* Advises technical staff and management on Cloud computing and Cybersecurity solutions
* Builds trust with customers and fosters collaborative environment for team members and stakeholders

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

Five (5) + years of experience with administering, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise or DoD networks for enterprise technologies including virtualization (e.g. virtual desktop) using Thin/Zero client, SQL, Windows Server services (e.g. Active Directory, DHCP, NAT, SSL and DNS), Linux OS administration, load balancing, datacenter networking, shell scripting skills, content delivery and enterprise management solutions (e.g. Microsoft System Center)

* Experience with server virtualization on an iSCSI Storage Area Networks (SAN) and backup solutions
* Experience with vSphere, ESXi, NSX-T and/or other VMware products
* Experience with flash storage array technologies such as Dell EMC, HPE Nimble, IBM FlashSystem, Pure Storage FlashBlade, NetApp, Futjitsu Eternus AF, Tegile IntelliFlash, Hitachi Vantara
* Experience with IaaS platform types such as DigitalOcean, Linode, Rackspace, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Metapod, Microsoft Azure, or Google Compute Engine (GCE)
* Experience with network analysis software such as Sniffer, Wireshark, or Microsoft Network Monitor
* Experience with network security hardware such as Forcepoint Sidewinder, Palo Alto, and Cisco
* Experience with release management and supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering best practices
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a diverse, fast-changing environment

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

* Expert knowledge of programming and database languages such as Ruby, Go, Java, Clojure, Node.js, Python, Scala, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, PHP, MongoDB
* Experience with PaaS platform types such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce Heroku, Force.com, Google App Engine, Apache Stratos, RedHat OpenShift, Software AG LongJump, or IBM Bluemix
* Experience with open technologies, DevOps and related Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Pivotal, Ansible, Powershell, Selenium, Terraform, Jenkins Pipelines, Nexus repository, Docker, Kubernetes, Diamanti, Python, GitHub, Cisco UCS Director SDK, or AppDynamics
* Experience with Concourse, Spinnaker, Bamboo, TeamCity, or other Continuous Integration tools
* Experience with middleware technologies RabbitMQ, Java runtime, and/or .NET runtime
* Experience using configuration management systems such as GIT, Apache SVN, AWS CodeCommit, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Helix Core, IBM Rational ClearCase and Mercurial
* Experienced with Pivotal Cloud Foundry installation, integration, and deployment
* Experience with DoD security implementation including STIG, security tools, including HBSS, ACAS, and SIEM and Cloud security best practices
* Certifications in Windows Server 2012, CompTIA Linux+, and VMware
* Experience being part of an Agile development team

CERTIFICATIONS:

* Active DoD SECRET clearance required upon hire with eligibility for TOP SECRET with SCI caveat
* Meets Information Assurance Technician (IAT) II requirements

EDUCATION:

* BS in engineering or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, and/or work experience

TRAVEL:

* This position may require up to 10% travel to Vandenberg AFB (CA), Santa Monica (CA), and/or Colorado Springs (CO)
