Job Duties and Responsibilities

Principal Wireless Engineer, Wireless Innovation

A Principal Wireless Engineer is responsible for identifying emerging network infrastructure technologies and delivering proofs of concepts around said technologies. The position will also provide consultation support to the Business Development and Innovation teams.

The primary focuses of the Innovation team are:

Blockchain/DLT: Innovation Team is researching DLTs for use within various components of Dish's business. Architect will be responsible for designing, analyzing and working with the engineers to determine the best choices for DLT partners.

Satellite: Innovation Team is currently looking at various incumbents and new entrants to the satellite space. Architect will assist in auditing the technologies offered by potential partners and inventing new technologies that will utilize LEO/MEO/GEO deployments.

Wireless Infrastructure: Innovation Team is researching all possible components of an open RAN ecosystem. Architect will research edge computing, SIM virtualization, NFV, SDR, SDN, TCP/IP routing alternatives; with the intention to develop proofs of concept around the technologies in an effort to deploy next a generation wireless network.

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

* Troubleshoot complex problems
* Work in a team environment, interacting with multiple internal teams and external vendors and customers
* Work in a fast-paced environment with challenging timelines
* Provide clear communication, both verbal and written
* Create / update documents and processes for the team

Skills - Experience and Requirements

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

* Strong understanding of AWS or cloud computing concepts and/or technology as a service (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS)
* Solid understanding of routing protocols, firewalls, TCP/IP networking, and Sub-netting with operations experience
* Linux background required as well as knowledge of VMWare, Kubernetes and OpenStack
* Strong skills in OOP languages (Java , C++ , C , Python , Ruby)
* Critical thinker who can work alone, as well as in a team environment
* Good communication skills by providing clear and concise lab reports, bug tracking reports, and vendor communication
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex problems by using wireshark, ssh, and github.
