Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal Database Administrator to support the Army Knowledge Online (AKO) program Data Center Operations in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

The Principal Database Administrator will become part of Northrop Grumman's Army Knowledge Online (AKO) program supporting over 1.9M users worldwide on what has been recognized as the world's largest intranet portal. A major component of AKO is its dedicated online "community" space for every unit and organization in the Army.

This requisition may be filled as either a level 3 or level 4.

Job Duties:

* Provides maintenance to all database components and maintain a secure configuration


* Provides lifecycle database management services including, but not limited to, design, development, provisioning, creation, modifying and managing data and schema, cloning and backup, troubleshooting, account management, and decommissioning


* Performs installation, upgrades, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization across all AKO databases and database servers


* Identifies and resolves database problems in coordination with the service desk as required


* Coordinates with third-party vendors, and technology providers to troubleshoot and perform operations activities


* Develops database dictionaries for all AKO databases


* Provides IA system validation and assessments


* Maintains plans, designs, and architecture documentation for all AKO databases and database servers


* Maintains the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support database server operations and administration


* Maintains the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation for all AKO database servers


* Maintains the Configuration Management (CM) and change control documentation for all AKO database servers


* Creates logical connectivity diagrams for the MongoDB servers


* Maintains and creates code in BASH and python for daily operations


* Reviews and provides recommendations to improve processes and procedures


* Provides reports on security vulnerability trends and analysis


* Monitors utilization requirements and conduct planning to ensure appropriate resource capacity management


* Provides ad-hoc reports as required


* Provides training and knowledge transfer as required



Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

* A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience/ an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement


* An Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certification (or higher)


* An Interim Secret security clearance (or higher) to start with the ability to obtain a Secret once aboard



Basic Qualifications for a level 4:

* A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience/ an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement


* An Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certification (or higher)


* An Interim Secret security clearance (or higher) to start with the ability to obtain a Secret once aboard



Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience as a MongoDB database administrator with knowledge of run-time configuration, processes, scaling, backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning for production MongoDB instances


* Experience working with Oracle and MongoDB databases in the a cloud environment (AWS, Azure)


* MongoDB Database Administrator (DBA) Associate certificate or higher


* Experience with database design, integration and backup recovery


* Participated in capacity planning and benchmarking of application workloads


* Experience with Oracle Enterprise Database Server to resolve database outages and problems


* Experience supporting an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) solution that spans multiple data centers


* Experience with Automatic Storage Management (ASM)


* Experience with Data Guard replication


* Experience with complex SQL queries and scripts


* Experience in implementing scripting automation/orchestration tools


* Experience with Python libraries such as cx_Oracle, multithreading, pyladp, and suds


* Experience with AKO or the government Security Community


* Proven experience supporting a government program that consists of multiple Data Centers housing a multi-zone multi-network environment


* Significant familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Database Servers supporting a government enterprise IT environment


* Experience with LDAP queries and modifications
