The Principal Data Scientist sets data science research objectives for their department. The Principal Data Scientist uses available resources to maximize impact on meaningful clinical problems and develop new decision support tools with the data science team. Responsible for the design and execution of research and development objectives utilizing advanced computational techniques to generate novel medical insights and to build clinical decision support systems. Consults with clinical experts to define problems and data sets of interest and to propose solutions based on advanced computational techniques. Qualifications/Work Experience: Bachelor#s Degree in a STEM field and 10+ years# experience conducting data science research, or M.S. or Ph.D. in a STEM field and 8+ years# experience conducting data science research. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken. Experience in clinical data science. # Preferred ########### Previous experience with open-source software projects ########### Familiarity with information visualization concepts and tools # Fluency in Pandas Fluency in machine learning libraries (e.g., Keras, Theano, Sci-kit Learn) Familiarity with modern relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, NoSQL databases, etc.) Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, git) Passion for data science and keeping up to date on latest methods Education/Licensure/Certification: B.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Ph.D. preferred. Graduate-level coursework in machine learning, data mining, visualization, statistics, artificial intelligence, probabilistic models, or optimization.
