Duties & Responsibilities

MSC is currently searching for a Database Developer to provide technical support and coordinate support initiatives for scientific systems at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duties and Responsibilities

* Work as a member of a software development team to create and maintain database tables, database relationships, application data, and database links, views, stored procedures, etc.;
* Assist end-users and developers in troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day database/data related issues;
* Maintain existing databases and data processing pipelines;
* Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement the necessary changes in data model, schema, tables, data relations, indexes, views, etc.;
* Develop and optimize database queries, and assist team members in database related questions and issues;
* Contribute to the development of ETL and reports.

Requirements

Position Requirements

* Knowledge of OLTP and OLAP database modeling and development.
* Hands-on experience with writing SQL queries (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.), stored procedures, designing/implementing/modifying tables, relations, indexes, etc.
* Query optimization and troubleshooting experience.
* Experience with data management and data processing.
* Ability to quickly and with minimal supervision master existing databases, data models/schemas, data relations and data management pipelines.

Position Qualifications

* Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Math or related technical majors.
* 3+ years of experience in design, development, testing and maintenance of SQL databases and database driven software solutions.

Additional Desired Skills

* Experience in report development (e.g. SAP BO suite, Crystal Reports, etc.).
* Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL.
* Knowledge/experience with OLAP, ETL tools, Data Warehousing.
