Responsibilities

The Integrated Sensor Design and Analysis Department supports electro-optical payload development by performing systems engineering analysis in a concurrent engineering environment. Systems are evaluated from an optical, thermal, and structural perspective. We support the optical design, analysis, and testing of sensor systems from short-turnaround prototypes to Class A satellites.

Key Functions

* Develop, model, and analyze the optical design of electro-optical space-based systems including quick-turnaround prototypes and cubesats using standard ray tracing tools.
* Generate novel sensor concepts to meet evolving customer requirements, experience with opto-mechanical designs for implementation and build is a plus.
* Provide performance analysis of electro-optical sensor systems for assessing proposed designs and developing technical performance requirements.
* Interact with senior staff and department management to solve challenging technical problems that arise on EO sensor system programs.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist

Qualifications

Required

* Degree from an accredited university in optics, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or another related discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in lens design of electro-optical remote sensing space-based systems.
* Must be able to perform detailed optical system design and analysis using optical ray tracing software such as CodeV or Zemax.
* Strong computer programming skills in an engineering application environment such as MATLAB, ENVI/IDL, or Mathematica.
* Good analytical skills in electro-optical system performance evaluation including radiometry, optical design and testing, and sensor performance metrics.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work interactively and effectively with Air Force and government customers, and with contractor personnel.
* Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information TS/SCI SSBI security clearance.

Preferred

* Advanced degree.

Requirements for Engineering Specialist

Required

* Degree from an accredited university in optics, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or another related discipline.
* 8+ years of experience in lens design of electro-optical remote sensing space-based systems.
* Extensive experience performing detailed optical system design and analysis using optical ray trace code software such as CodeV or Zemax.
* Strong computer programming skills in an engineering application environment such as MATLAB, ENVI/IDL, or Mathematica.
* Good analytical skills in electro-optical system performance evaluation including radiometry, optical design and testing, and sensor performance metrics.
* Demonstrated team leadership experience and mentoring of junior staff.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work interactively and effectively with Air Force and government customers, and with contractor personnel.
* Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information TS/SCI SSBI security clearance.

Preferred

* Advanced degree.
