Job Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Baltimore, MD is seeking an engineer with OPS with at least 2 year experience in the maintenance and/or commanding of on-orbit satellites to support Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellite operations National Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland. Experience with satellite operations at the National Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland is highly desirable. The DMSP program options continue until June 2022, and is highly likely to be funded several years beyond 2022. A background in Aerospace and good computer and computing systems / programming background (MATLAB etc.) would be helpful. Bachelors in STEM field required. Work and travel to the Linthicum, MD site may be necessary up to 20% of the time.

Some of the key activities conducted for this position are:

* Generate daily PAM's for multiple on-orbit platforms
* Provide technical support with the team for NOAA at the Suitland, MD OTSU (NSOF) site
* Conduct daily checks and archive imagery
* Analyze imagery and conduct weekly reviews with the government customer
* Support on-orbit sensor anomaly resolutions
* Liaison with DMSP sensor vendor

Basic Qualifications of a OPM Engineer:

* Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field and 2 years of experience; 0 year's experience with Masters OR PhD.
* Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
* Able to work effectively and independently to meet deadlines
* Able to express technical ideas and opinions effectively
* Possess strong analytical skills, ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues
* Understanding and ability to perform within a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative working environment

Preferred Qualifications of a OPM Engineer:

* Experience supporting Satellite Operations (experience at NSOF highly desirable).
* Good computer and programming skills a plus

* Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field and 5 years of experience; 3 years experience with Masters 0 year's with a PhD.
* Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
