When applying for this role please ensure you tell us how you could add value to PeopleFluent and most importantly, what makes you suitable for this role.We are looking for a talented Operations Database Administrator to join our team at PeopleFluent.

If you're an experienced Oracle DBA that is interested in joining a cohesive, growing team and making our back end products shine, you'll love this job.

We maintain several hundred deployments of our products that are backed by Oracle RAC and Microsoft SQL, and we need an experienced hand at the wheel to help us improve performance, solve application problems, and to ensure that our backup, recovery, and data hygiene are all best-in-class. We're primarily looking for an Oracle DBA, but if you have experience with MS SQL Server, that's a big bonus. If not, we'll train you up :-) After all, if you can handle Oracle, MS SQL isn't a big jump.

You'll have a chance to work with a really tight Ops team that loves to automate all the things, and to work with some incredibly smart people across our Hosting, Engineering, and Customer Service teams.

There will a good bit of internal support that happens as a part of this job: System Administrators, DevOps, and Developers will escalate stuff to you, and you'll be expected to advise them and other internal folks. You'll also take part in an on-call rotation, during which time responsibility for keeping things running will be yours. That said, a big part of your job will be to build things in such a way that if they break, they fix themselves so that we don't get calls at 3am. We're not fans of getting up in the middle of the night, and we'll go to great lengths to avoid doing so.

We have to maintain an SSAE18 certification, and we care about good security practices for their own sake, so you'll be responsible for implementing security policy as a part of your work. We'll expect you to be aggressive about recognizing security antipatterns and bringing them into the sunlight.

We don't require a specific set of credentials, a particular degree, or a million years of experience for this job. If you have all of these things, that's great, and it'll help you. If not, that's fine too if you've got the chops. We do expect that you've had at least 5-7 years of demonstrable experience as an Oracle DBA including Oracle RAC, and that you have some basic experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and higher. You'll need to have experience with large-scale, high availability database solutions, clustering, and off-site disaster recovery, and serious skills with troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues, and whatnot using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. It is also important to us that you've had experience implementing database-level crypto and understand this problem space deeply.

Otherwise, most important qualification is that you're interested in being seriously excellent and want to work with amazing people.
